Bill McClung Message
Bill McClung Message
We are here to honor the memory of Bill McClung. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and brother in Christ. Working on this service has been the hardest thing I have ever done. I wasn’t sure where to start. When I was visiting with the family this week I listened to different stories about him.
One story was Bill pretending to be a bus driver on the tailgate of his truck with the grandkids. He would pretend he was picking up different people so he would make stops and give them a ride on the bus.
Another was how Bill would give each of them a dollar and take them to the store and let them buy candy and the older ones helping the little one to make sure she had enough. Then Diane would help pay the taxes so they could get all they wanted with that dollar.
He would play hide and seek with flashlights.
He would tell them “Come here and give me sugars darlin”.
He always had to give them something before they left to go home.
I can tell you Bill didn’t change much after his grandkids grew up because he did things like that all the time at the church. He always made sure the kids in children’s church had snacks and drinks and even bubble gum.
He always wanted to help and was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church. He makes sure that the air filters are changed and was here to help whenever needed. He spent 3 days last week helping get things ready for a yard sale. Everywhere he went he always invited people to come join us and witnessed to them telling them they need to get saved. After the church services he would comment on my sermons.
One that stands out was a couple of weeks ago, I preached “ Stop procrastinating time is running out”!!! I made the statement that there is one thing pastors don’t like to do and that is funerals. I gave this point. If a loved one who dies is not saved it is hard to comfort the family. Because the loved one is going to Hell. But, if a loved one who dies is saved, the pastor can comfort and reassure the family because their loved one is in Heaven. Bro. Bill came to me after that message and told me that when I do his funeral you can be assured where I’m going to be. I’ll be in Heaven with my son, Robert, and he will be showing me around.
I can assure his family and his friends that after his last breath Bill was carried by the angels to meet his Savior and was reunited with his son Robert.
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
2Corinthians
Bill loved his wife and loved his children. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. but most of all he loved his Savior Jesus Christ. I can assure you that if you know Jesus Christ you will be reunited with Bill in Heaven. If you are unsure what you need to do to be saved see me after the services and I will be glad to show you.
