*Genesis 3:1-7** – The Fall*

As you read Genesis chapter 3 several questions come to mind.
One of the first is, why isn't Eve startled by having a conversation with a snake?
Where is Adam?
Is he right there as all this is going on, and if he is why doesn't he speak up.
*1** Timothy 2:14*
*/14 /**And** **/it was /**not Adam /who /was deceived, but the woman being quite deceived, fell into transgression.
NASV*

There are several other questions that I have.
And so far the only sure answer I have if found in:

*Deuteronomy 29:29*
*29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law.
NASV*

Ezekiel 28:13-19

*FIRST -- THERE WAS A CONVERSATION.*
Notice in *verse one* the phrase, *"HE SAID UNTO THE WOMEN..."                              *

Now notice in *verse 2*, *"THE WOMEN SAID UNTO THE SERPENT..."*

It is very obvious from verse 1 and verse 2 that the devil and Eve were having a conversation.
Now I want to ask you a question.
Eve doesn't have any business having a conversation with the devil.
And we don't have any business carrying on a discussion with the devil.
Do you know what we should do when the devil comes along side us?
We should do what Jesus did.
We should point the devil to the very Word of God.
And leave the devil with the Word of God.
Amen.
Isn't that what Jesus did?
What did Jesus say the to devil?
He said, *"IT IS WRITTEN."*

3 times Jesus reached for the Word of God.
You see, the devil hates the Word of God.

*Hebrews 4:12*
*12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart."
NASV*

*EPHESIANS 4:17**  SWORD** OF THE SPIRIT*

            But Eve doesn't do that.
Instead she has a conversation with the devil.
Do you know what happens when you have a conversation with the devil?
The end result is you open up your mind to the devil.
Let me ask you a question.
Can you stop the birds of this world from flying over your head?
Of course you can't.
But you can stop the birds of this word from making in nest in your hair.
By a simple conversation Eve opened her  mind to the devil.
After the conversation comes:

*SECOND -- SKEPTIC.*
Look very closely at verse 1 and as you read verse 1 imagine hearing the sneer, the mocking,
the ridicule, of the devil.
*Genesis 3:1*
*/1 /**Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made.
And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?"
NASV*

The devil is saying in effect, "What od you think jaout what God said?
Don't you think god is a little unreasonable?"
The devil is saying, Eve, did God say you can not eat from the orange tree, the plum tree, the cherry three, the pear tree.
Eve, didn't God say you can not eat from any tree?
Do you know what the devil is trying to do?
He is trying to get Eve not to trust the Word of God.
Write it down, any person who can not trust the Word of God is going to do the devil's work.
*THIRD -- DENIAL*

*Genesis 3:2-4*
*/2 /**And** the woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat;/  3/**/ /**but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, lest you die.’”**/ 4 And the serpent said to the woman, “You surely shall not die!"
NASV/*

That is an outright open lie.
The devil is saying that God's Word is not true.
The devil says you can sin and get away with it.
Why did the devil lie about God?
Because the devil know that as long as Adam and Eve dependent on God, they could not be touched.
As long as they trusted God's promise they were under His protection.
So the devil tries to discredit God.
The devil wants to get Adam and eve to move out of the God's protection and into the life of fire.
He will do that to you and me.
He will whisper into someone's ear, "It's OK to commit adultery ...if your in love it all right."
Do you know what Jesus said about the devil?
In *JOHN** 8:44** *

*he is a liar, and the father of lies.
nasv*

Did you know that the devil has a gospel?
The devil's gospel is that you can sin and get away with it.
Let me tell you what the Word of God says, *"THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH"  ROM 6:23*

*"THE SOUL THAT SINNETH SHALL SURELY DIE"  EZEKIEL 18:4 & 20*

And the Bible says, *"BE SURE YOUR SINS WILL FIND YOU OUT"  NUMBERS 32:23*

Several years ago an old preacher  told me something I have never forgotten.
I want to share it with you.
I want you to write it down so you will never forget it.
Sin will take you further than you intended to go.
Sin will make you pay you more than you intended to pay.
And sin will make you stay
l

Those 3 short statements sum up Genesis chapter 3.

*FOURTH -- THERE WAS DECEPTION*

Genesis 3:5
5 ~*For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
NASV

Do you know what the devil was saying?
He was telling Eve she could be your own god.
Eve I want to liberate you.
Try it, you'll like it.
And Eve, how do you know if you don't try it, how do you know if.....

Do you think this was a gross temptations?
