Lecture Twelve:  The Inerrancy of Scripture II

TH330 Systematic Theology I · Moody Bible Institute · Dr. Richard M. Weber

I. Objections to Biblical Inerrancy

A. Objection:  “The Bible doesn’t clearly claim that it is inerrant, so neither should we.”

B. Objection:  “There are clear errors in the Bible.  The Bible is inaccurate in details.”

1. Regarding Numbers

2. Regarding Quotations

3. Regarding Scientific Knowledge

4. Regarding Historical Details

5. Regarding Completeness of Detail

C. Objection:  “God ‘accommodated’ his message in minor details in order to conform to the false ideas of the biblical writesr.  This means God had to, at the time, affirm what He knew to be a falsehood.”

Eph 5:1.  “Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children.”  (Cf. Lev 11:44; Luke 6:36)

Eph 4:24-25.  “[P]ut on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.  Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body.”
