Familial Conduct
[Announce Text] 1 Timothy 5:1-6:2
[Scriptural Introduction] Questions [Contextualization] Imagine you are adopted into a family. You meet your parents, your brothers and your sisters. You want is the next question? What kind of family is this? [Creation of longing] Brothers and sister, we need not be confused with how the church conducts itself toward one another, shows us the kind of family the Church is.
[Renounce text and Read] 1 Timothy 5:1-2

[Introduction] Julie and I have different families. Julie’s family. [FCF]
[Proposition] Because the Church is an extended family, we must conduct ourselves as family. [Outline] Conducting ourselves as family includes appealing to one another, caring for our real widows, honoring our elders, and labouring for our bosses.
[Main point #1] Appealing to one another as family
[Sub point 1] No Rebuking False teaching, must rebuking needs to be done.
[Sub point 2] Appealing as family. Not from authority but in exhortation.
Older as father, younger as brother, older as mother, younger as sisters.

[Application] SENSITIVITY. May we not threaten one another but appeal to each other as family.
[Main point #2] Caring for widows as family
[Sub point 1] 5:5 Real widows have no family and are older
Good stewardship of the Lord’s money. Some think there is too much thought.
5:4 Family responsibility; On practical grounds alone not having family and being over 60 meets the age. But more. The Church must not look bad my supporting evil
[Sub point 2] 5:5 Real widows are above reproach
[Sub point 3] Widows defined: “χήρα” “a woman whose husband has died”. the idea of neediness is oft. associated with this word, and it is oft. joined w. orphans.
, “He executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and shows His love for the alien by giving him food and clothing.”
, “a complaint arose on the part of the Hellenistic Jews against the native Hebrews, because their widows were being overlooked in the daily serving”

Desirable away from poverty. Become a Roman citizen.
Not as bad as the slavery of Africans in Amercia but bad nonetheless.
