INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION
Today we have been honored and privileged to attend the wedding of Boddie Kimeria and Lillian Mueni.
It is a wonderful mystery this institution that we call marriage. Have her say thank you to the father and Mother/ have him say thank you to the parents of Lillian
when asked about marriage people usually have such opinions about it, and some have little stories to illustrate it.

A friend once told me- when I go to the mall I hold the hand of my wife because if I let her go she will start shopping. Holding her hand looks romantic, but actually it is economical.

A man and his wife were sitting before a fire just resting and they had been married for a long time 45 years and the man looked at his wife and said….
dear wife after 45 years I have found you tried and true…
his wife had a hearing problem so she said ..what? He said it louder….
after 45 years I have found you tried and true….she replied after 45 years I am tired of you too.

Another man who was a gambler when asked said marriage is like a deck of cards, in the beginning all you need is 2 hearts and a diamond- but after some time you will wish you had a club and a spade.

A man is in a restaurant with his wife and they see this man and he is so drunk and the wife looks at the man and tells her husband you see that drunk man…10 years ago he proposed to me for marriage……and I flatly refused….the husband says OMG he is still celebrating!!
MARRIAGE SO MANY VIEWS- SOME FUNNY BUT OTHERS- KEEPING IT REAL.
INTRO PREAMBLE

Today as celebrate this wonderful marriage of Boddie and Lillian let me give the viewpoint of the one who created marriage and that is God.
You see Marriage was the very first institution God founded on the earth.
Today as celebrate this wonderful marriage of Boddie and Lillian let me give the viewpoint of the one who created marriage and that is God. You see Marriage was the very first institution God founded on the earth. As goes marriages so goes most societies, because good homes are mostly founded on Good marriages and the health of communities can be determined by the health of homes which in turn are determined by the health of the marriages in that community, so in essence the foundation of the nation is determined by the health of the marriages in those nations…..and so Boddie and Lillian you are not only marrying one another, but in another sense you are going to raise the next generation in your home when God blesses you with children and the health of your marriage will determine the health of those little ones
As goes marriages so goes most societies, because good homes are mostly founded on Good marriages
and the health of communities can be determined by the health of homes which in turn are determined by the health of the marriages in that community,
so in essence the foundation of a nation is determined by the health of the marriages in those nations.
and so Boddie and Lillian you are not only marrying one another, but in another sense you are going to raise the next generation in your home when God blesses you with children.
and so Boddie and Lillian you are not only marrying one another, but in another sense you are going to raise the next generation in your home when God blesses you with children
and the health of your marriage will determine the health of those little ones
and the health of your marriage will determine the health of those little ones
So how did God intend for this marriage institution to work?
Let me illustration with a box
I) MARRIAGE IS LIKE A BOX.
I) MARRIAGE IS LIKE A BOX.
In this box there is nothing, it is all empty, and so is marriage
boddie and Lillian have just married….they have an empty box, marriage doesn’t come already filled with happiness
boddie and Lillian have just married….they have an empty box, marriage doesn’t come already filled with happiness….marriage doesn’t come with joy or acceptance or satisfaction……all those have to be put in there……happiness is with the 2 couples, joy is with the 2 couples, satisfaction and all that is with the 2 couples …and as they put in those ingredients into the box……then in the years to come they can withdraw from the box…..the things they put in….if you put fights…then in the years to come you will withdraw….fights…if you put in meanness then in the years to come you will withdraw means…..so what did the Lord intend for you to put in this box so that your marriage can be a wonderful one
marriage doesn’t come with joy or acceptance or satisfaction
all those have to be put in there
happiness is with the 2 couples,
joy is with the 2 couples,
satisfaction and all that is with the 2 couples
and as they put in those ingredients into the box
then in the years to come they can withdraw from the box…..the things they put in….if you put fights…then in the years to come you will withdraw….fights…if you put in meanness then in the years to come you will withdraw means…..so what did the Lord intend for you to put in this box so that your marriage can be a wonderful one
then in the years to come they can withdraw from the box
the things they put in
if you put fights…then in the years to come you will withdraw….fights
if you put in meanness then in the years to come you will withdraw meaness
SO THE FIRST THING GOD INTENDED FOR YOU TO PUT IN THE BOX
II) THE PRIORITY OF MARRIAGE
II) THE PRIORITY OF MARRIAGE
The text of genesis tells us that the man leave his father and mother and is united to his wife- that speaks of the priority of marriage.
the man leaves his family and becomes a husband
the man leaves his family and becomes a husband- the girl leaves her family and becomes a wife. And that marriage becomes new unit. That is how God designed it. Boddie, Lillian is now your priority and Lillian Boddie is now your priority. He is your first priority and Boddie she is your first priority. Her dates come first, his dates come first…your responsibility to him comes first, your responsibility to her comes first, you are each others first priority- put that in your marriage box
the girl leaves her family and becomes a wife.
And that marriage becomes new unit.
That is how God designed it. Boddie
Lillian is now your priority and Lillian Boddie is now your priority.
He is your first priority and Boddie she is your first priority.
Her dates come first, his dates come first
your responsibility to him comes first, your responsibility to her comes first, you are each others first priority-
put that in your marriage box
III) A SECOND THING TO PUT IN THE MARRIAGE BOX IS LOVING COMMUNICATION AND UNDERSTANDING
III) A SECOND THING TO PUT IN THE MARRIAGE BOX IS LOVING COMMUNICATION AND UNDERSTANDING
in vs 25 it tells us that Adam and Eve were both naked and they felt no shame.
that speaks of transparency- they were completely transparent to one another.
learn to talk to one another- your concerns, your joys, your hopes, your fears ….be transparent to each other
2 learn to talk to one another- your concerns, your joys, your hopes, your fears ….be transparent to each other……Lillian will love your transparency Boddie…..Boddie will appreciate your transparency Lillian…..you are with each other for life….talk to one another ……I know they say that a woman has 50000 words while a man has 19000 words….so Lillian be patient with Boddie …otherwise motherboard inaeza chemka…..and he shuts down coz it has overheated….I also said loving communication and understanding….that understanding is important…..for sure if you come to talk to him ….when Croatia is playing France in the finals….I can assure even God…..will understand when he shuts down…wah if you want to have a conversation boddie when she is in the middle of wool worths shopping…woe Mungu akusaidie…..there has to be loving communication….and understanding….learn to speak what’s in your heart….put that in the box
Lillian will love your transparency Boddie
Boddie will appreciate your transparency Lillian
you are with each other for life….talk to one another
I know they say that a woman has 50000 words while a man has 19000 words
so Lillian be patient with Boddie …otherwise motherboard inaeza chemka…..and he shuts down coz it has overheated
A) REMEMBER I SAID LOVING COMMUNICATION AND UNDERSTANDING
A) REMEMBER I SAID LOVING COMMUNICATION AND UNDERSTANDING
that understanding is important
for sure if you come to talk to him, when Croatia is playing France in the finals….I can assure even God will understand when he shuts down
if you want to have a conversation Boddie when she is in the middle of wool worths shopping
Mungu akusaidie, there has to be loving communication….and understanding.
learn to speak what’s in your heart….put that in the box
IV) ANOTHER THING TO PUT IN THE MARRIAGE BOX IS LOVING CONFRONTATION
IV) ANOTHER THING TO PUT IN THE MARRIAGE BOX IS LOVING CONFRONTATION
learning to disagree in a healthy way. I would be unjust to say that there are no fights in marriage
coz we KNOW that in marriages couples disagree and sometimes tough disagreements
I would be unjust to say that there are no fights in marriage coz we KNOW that in marriages couples disagree and sometimes tough disagreements…..the key is to disagree well and come to a resolution…..attacking the problem and not each other……major areas of disagreement will

major areas of disagreement will be
A) SELFISHNESS
A) SELFISHNESS
we are all born with a selfish nature

a wife complaining to a marriage counselor told him …when my husband won a trip for 2 to Mombasa he went twice….
In marriage that is the one area you will be tested and the Bible says…
that love is patient, love is kind, it does not seek for itself- it does not demand to have its own way rather it looks out for the benefit of there other person……
and marriage is the journey of learning how to esteem the other person more then themselves.
if Boddie you learn to sacrifice for your wife
and Lillian you learn to sacrifice for Boddie
Then the grace of God will more than compensate everything else that could challenge the marriage.
B) ANOTHER AREA THAT TESTS MARRIAGE IS ANGER- DEALING WITH IT
B) ANOTHER AREA THAT TESTS MARRIAGE IS ANGER- DEALING WITH IT
When you get angry- the Bible says in your anger do not sin
do not let the sun go down on your anger
there is no one who will make you more angry then your wife and Lillian there is no one who will make you more angry then Boddie.
and its because his the person you love the most….she is the person Boddie you love the most….
but do not let the sun go down while you are still angry…..lovingly confront the problem and not each other…..talk about it….communicate, seek a resolution.
deal with your expectations of one another. those patterns of lifestyle that you will come with into the marriage, those unsaid expectations of what the future holds and what you expect to have achieved in the next 10 years or so. talk about those expectations
V) THE LAST THING TO PUT IN THE BOX IS FORGIVENESS
V) THE LAST THING TO PUT IN THE BOX IS FORGIVENESS
Learn to forgive one another
forgiveness is letting go of the resentment and the right to get even with someone for what they did to you….
Learn to forgive one another……forgiveness is letting go of the resentment and the right to get even with someone for what they did to you….in marriage mutakosana….in marriage there will be the temptation to be resentful and have an eye for an eye…….forgive…..let go of that building resentment…..accept each other for who you are and stop trying to change each other ….by nagging or silent treatment….let God do the changing …..and forgive….when we love we are like people but when we forgive we are like God.
in marriage mutakosana
and there will be the temptation to be resentful and have an eye for an eye attitude
forgive…..let go of that building resentment…..
accept each other for who you are and don’t trying to change each other
by nagging or silent treatment….let God do the changing …..and forgive
when we love we are like people but when we forgive we are like God.
