1. The Child of God doesn’t produce sin
a. – Those born of God do not have as their life’s goal to produce sin. We are seeking to serve God and become pleasing of God
i. You are born of God, put on the new man
But that is not how you came to know Christ, assuming you heard about him and were taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus, to take off your former way of life, the old self that is corrupted by deceitful desires, to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, the one created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth.
1. The new man does not sin.
2. You are a new creature
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!
3. The believer is therefore someone who is in their old body with all of its problems, desires, and frailties but who is a new person inside, born of God and indwelt by the Holy Spirit.
a. This is what Paul calls the “Old Man” that we have to reckon dead. Basically, stop responding to him because he is already dead. ()
ii. Are you convicted when you sin? Or can you sin without consequence and conviction.
iii. You as a believe do not live in sin, but commit individual sin 1 John

1. It is not the believer that keeps themselves but it is Jesus.
v. “and the evil one does not touch Him”
1. The verb haptomai is translated touch.
a. This literally means to fasten oneself to, to cling
