Introduction

Good morning
Introduce yourself
Please open you bibles to
Have someone read in English
Have Chandra read in Nepali.

6 Let the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who teaches. 7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

The Flow of Though in Verses 6-10
I would like us to look at verses 7-10 this morning, but in order to do that we must first look at verse 6 in detail.
So quickly lets us look at verses 6 to get a better understanding of the context.
So quickly lets us look at verses 6 to get a better understanding.

6 Let the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who teaches.

The apostle Paul is teaching us that the relationship between the teacher of the word and the one learning is very important.
He says, “let the one who is taught the word share in all good things with the one who teaches.”
What does that mean and how does it apply to us:
The church in Galatia had many problems and the apostle Paul was trying to correct them.
First, many of the members of this church were not following the teachings of Christ and were caught in terrible sin.
Second, the church itself was not taking care of the financial needs of its leaders.
So Paul is pointing the importance of the relationship of the teacher of the word and the one being taught.
How does this apply to us?
Everyone in this room most likely has a Godly person who is teaching you the word of God.
We must value these relationships.
We must pray for our teachers.
We must follow their influence.
And we must share in all the good things that come from God with our teachers.

Whatever one sows, that will he also reap. vs. 7-10

7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

In verse 6, Paul tells us about the importance of the relationship we share with our spiritual leaders.
Then in verse 7-8 compares the one who is living in “the flesh” and the one is living in the spirit.
Verse 7 says,  Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap”
Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap
“Do not be deceived: God is not mocked”
We cannot deceive or fool God.
And God will not be mocked.
The apostle explains what he means
“for whatever one sows, that will he also reap”
What it means to Sow.
“To sow” is a term used when planting a crop.
A farmer will “sow” a seed in the ground with the hopes that it will produce a crop.
The Rice Fields in Nepal
One of the favorite things my wife and I have experienced since we lived in Nepal is watching the rice fields being planted and then producing a crop later on in the season.
To watch these empty field in the spring produce these beautiful colors of green rice in late summer is amazing.
Sowing and Reaping
Just like when someone in Nepal sows rice seed into the ground and produces a crop...
So do we produces what we sow into our spiritual lives.
The Apostle Paul explains what he means in verse 8.

8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life

For the one who sows to his own flesh… What does this mean?
Just like when we plant a seed in the ground and it produces a crop.
When we sow sin into our lives it produces bad things.
Corruption
Disobedience to God’s word.
Have someone read (You read in English and Chandra read Nepali)
However, Paul shows us when we sow seed according to the spirit, we produce eternal life.
Have someone Galatians 5:22-24 (You read in English and Chandra Nepali)

Application

How do we “sow” in the spirit?
And how do we reap eternal life?

How do we “Sow” in the spirit?

Paul tells us the answer to this question in verses 9-10.
First, the apostle tells us to not grow weary of doing good.
Has anyone here ever felt weary?
To feel weary means to become tired.
I become weary when I ride my cycle with uncle Daniel.
In this instance Paul is speaking growing weary because of “doing good.”
It’s important to remember that there is a link between not growing weary and our faith in Jesus...

in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

In due season we will reap a harvest.
What does this mean?
It means if we are sowing good things into our life through faith and the Holy Spirit then we will reap a harvest of eternal life.
If we do not give up.
What does it mean when the apostle says, “If we don’t give up”?
Well first we need to understand that there are some that call themselves Christians but are not sowing good things into their lives, so they may not believers.
These people may have never really had true faith in Jesus, because the bible tells if they did they would be lead by the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is really important in this passage.
In verse 8, the apostle shows us that the link between doing sowing and receiving eternal life happens through the guiding of the Holy spirit.
If you have the Holy Spirit in you he is leading you to sow seeds of righteousness into your life that is and will produce eternal life for you.
If you don’t have the Holy Spirit though verse 8 also tells us that you will only reap corruption.

The Conclusion

So as we close let us conclude with verse 10.

So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

We should use every opportunity to do good.
But especially so to those who are of the household of faith.
As we close lets remember these things...
Value your Godly Christian Teachers.
They care for you and want lead you into a life of righteousness.
Share in their good teachings from the word of God.
Honor them because they care for you.
Let us live lives that are pleasing to God.
If we are believers in Jesus. Then God is producing good fruit in your life.
If your life is producing these good fruit. You will “reap eternal life”
(Go back and read the fruit of the spirit).

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Strive to do good to others inside and outside of the faith.
We should be striving to do good to others, because we want to honor God through loving other.
This means we should be ready to tell people about Jesus.
I also means that we should be ready to encourage and love our brothers and sisters who believe in Jesus.
Don’t grow weary!
The same God who has said don’t grow weary is the same God who has provided his spirit to help you keep going.
Uncle Daniel as an example of not letting me grow weary and give up on my bike rides with him.
If you have not yet followed Jesus. You too can have this promise of eternal life.
You too can know how to have eternal life.
The bible us in that, “God so loved that he gave his only Son [Jesus], that whoever believes him will not perish, but will have eternal life.”
Jesus tell us in that he is “the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father accept through me.”
That means that no one can have eternal life unless they believe in Jesus alone, believe that he died for their sins on the cross, and arose again from the dead.
If you believe those things and follow Jesus in faith you too will have eternal life.
Close in Prayer.
