Do we have the Thomas Syndrome?
Do we have the Thomas Syndrome?
Unless I See.... I will not believe.
God goes beyond what we can see.
Beyond what we can imagine.
Beyond what man has come up with.
24 Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”
But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

compare that to
20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,
No eye has seen, yet we are told that He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ASK or IMAGINE.
See what God sees before what we think and see.
15 When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked.
16 “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
17 And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Elisha and the Servant saw two very different things.
Yes they both saw an army, yet it was not until the eyes of the servant was opened that he saw the truth of the situation.
31 He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again. 32 He spoke plainly about this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
33 But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. “Get behind me, Satan!” he said. “You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”
Mark 8:
Peter not having the mind of God. Not seeing the big picture but rebukes Jesus! So Jesus has to take authority over the situation.
Not all words spoken and Advice given with the best of intentions are worth or should be followed.
According to His Power
According to His Power
We see according to our power.
and therefore we don’t act.
Faith sees according to His power - for His Glory.
