Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Intro:
Read pg 39 middle p, & pg 40 last 3
Why do most dying churches have members who are nostalgic about the “good ole days”? What are the biblical implications of that mindset?
By the waters of Babylon, there we sat down and wept, when we remembered Zion.
On the willows there we hung up our lyres.
For there our captors required of us songs, and our tormentors, mirth, saying, “Sing us one of the songs of Zion!”

For there our captors required of us songs, and our tormentors, mirth, saying, “Sing us one of the songs of Zion!”
How shall we sing the Lord’s song in a foreign land?
Israel lived in the past, and missed a great opportunity to sing the praises of God

While going:
Everywhere and all times, we are challenged by Jesus to be on mission
Three commands make up the commission:
Make Disciples-
We are to be recruiting followers of Jesus
Retell the timeless good news that Jesus’ sacrifice can pay for their sins.
Calling people to repent and have faith in Jesus
2. Baptizing Disciples
Immersing believers in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit
Upon Baptism, they become members of the church
With baptism, comes that union and fellowship of believers
a place to belong and people who come alongside to walk through life together as we fulfil the great commission.
3. Teaching Disciples
Instructing them and mentoring them as they learn to obey Christ’s commands.
Sharing truth of God’s word and how it applies in every day of our lives.
Are we more obedient or disobedient to obey the Great Commission?

We long for the same results, but aren’t doing the same work
Our Activate team will soon share all the results of the Tranformational Church Assessment.
ONE striking thing stood out- Survey participants said they aren’t inviting people to church and to small groups
They aren’t coming, because we aren’t ASKING
Invite them to Fall Festival this Sat.
Invite them to worship with us, join SS, Bible Study etc.
Invite them to Christmas at Craft (details soon)
It takes work to make disciples, baptize them, and teach them
We must invest “sweat equity”
What is the relationship between Jesus’ promise to always be with us in and a mind-set that focuses on one’s own comfort?
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
We don’t have to do the winning!
Jesus promises to be with us.
I love Paul’s attitude:
I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.
Prayerful Commitment:
Prayerful Commitment:
Lord, remind me that I am to be a Great Commission Christian in a Great Commission church. Remind me that, in Your strength, I am to do whatever it takes to reach out into my community with the transforming power of the gospel.
