You are much More!!!
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;
29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
There are 4 primary things that Jesus deals with here.
1. Don’t worry
2. It is God’s nature to provide
3. He values you much more than you think
4. And be a Kingdom seeker.
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
matt 6:
Therefore, I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
It is the desire of God for man to live above worry.
Notice Chapter 5.
1 And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. 2 Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:
When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. 2 He opened His mouth and began to teach them, saying,
Jesus is teaching Christianity 101
Normal or radical Christianity
Or life in the Kingdom
The idea of Jesus Sitting on a mountain is, His desire to take us to higher place, not just to visit but to sit or reign with Him.
Jesus sits on top of the mountain then bring us back to simplicity of life and the qualification of the kingdom of God.
So now the question becomes what is the kingdom of God?
(NASB95)
17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
It not eating and drinking.
It is not coming merely and only to touch our senses
It does not consist either in using or in abstaining from such and such meats and drinks.
Nor is it rules or regulations
Jesus is trying to get man mind off of momentary things of this world.
That’s why verse 19 says
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Life is more than about what man will eat or drink.
Life is more than about what man will eat or drink.
Its more than clothing.
1. DO NOT WORRY!!!!
DO NOT WORRY!!!!
32 “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.
32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
Do Not Worry!
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Don’t be anxious up here
Thats why vacations are so good. lets just go somewhere were we dont have to be concerned with all the drama of life
and Jesus says, yes, come up here
7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
notice because he cares...
I really love how practical Jesus is being here.
I really love how practical Jesus is being here.
He looks at the basic needs of man. To be feed, to drink and to be cloth and He says, “Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?”
The kingdom is better and it is more than just what we can have.
Then he says in verse 27
27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
Worrying cant gave you any of those things anyway.
The second point is,
2. It is in God’s nature to provide.
It’s in God’s nature to provide.
26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Look at the faithfulness of God.
They don’t deserve it, yet He still provides.
13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.
28 “And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin,
28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Not only do i clothe them, I do it WELL!
Verse 27
27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
WORRY DOESN’T WORK!!!!
its fruitless!
If He provide for these, notice point 3
3. He values you much more than you think
3. He values you much more than you think
back to Verse 26
*****that he makes is the value of man.
26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Verse 26
matt
hear again the question, Are you not of more value than they?
Notice the birds. They don’t reap nor sow, nor do they gather, yet the Father in heaven feeds them.
if your father can feed a bird, how much more can He feed a son? or a daughter?
Don’t you realize that you are more valuable than a bird or any other animal for that matter.
Sons and daughter don’t need to worry because we have a Father that values us.
again verse 28-30
28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;
29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
28 “And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin,
29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.
Not only will he clothe you. He will much more than clothe you.
Jesus continues by saying, “Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith.”
Not only will he clothe you. He will much more than clothe you.
Jesus is dealing with a very basic but powerful principle here. He can and will provide for those who are his.
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
matt 6 31-32
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.”
You are not a Gentile, you are one of His, and He know exactly what you need.
This points to the last point Jesus makes.
4. Be a Kingdom seeker.
17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
There is reward for those who seek to choose His kingdom.
There is reward for those who seek to choose His kingdom.
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Matt 6 33-34
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
This is God desire for His children to seek and trust Him without fear and doubting.
Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Life is full of malevolence, disappointment and decay....
God wants to bring us to a higher place…
