Q: Does your faith have limits? If yes, are the limits set by you or God?
A: According to Jesus, there are at least 3 rungs of faith.
40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”
Background: The sea begins to rage. Water rushes in.
When what you see is clearer than what you know.
31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Mt 14.31
Background: Apparition in the night - Jesus invites Peter to come - he gets distracted
When you take your eyes off of where you’re headed.
10 When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!
Background: Centurion solider - “but only speak a word”
In a nutshell, faith = trust. If you can get that, you’ve got it all!
Ill: Bishop Comfort “Difference in America and Africa is if God doesn’t do it, it won’t get done.”
App: The people can’t trust nobody else.
I asked myself “Is that why MSW are more common there because we have banks, doctors, lawyers, nutritionist, trainers, etc.”
If you want God to teach you how to live by faith, be ready for Him to deal with the options you have.

David gives his
A Psalm of David.
1 Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill?
2 He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart;
3 He who does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend;
4 In whose eyes a vile person is despised, But he honors those who fear the Lord; He who swears to his own hurt and does not change;
5 He who does not put out his money at usury, Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.

14 The sinners in Zion are afraid; Fearfulness has seized the hypocrites: “Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? Who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?” 15 He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, He who despises the gain of oppressions, Who gestures with his hands, refusing bribes, Who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed, And shuts his eyes from seeing evil:

4 “Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith.
Paul reaches all the way to OT skips over Mic, Isaiah, and David and goes to where the faith walk began and puts a face atop of the concept
6 And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.
Context: Gods’ promising him a child
I can (have faith) trust you to protect me.
I can (have faith) trust you bless me.
I can (have faith) trust you to reward me.
But I can’t (have faith) trust you with Sarah’s old womb.
Before you come down on Abraham too hard, how many of us have set limits on our faith?
4 “Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith.
6 And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.
You’ve got 1 of 2 choices, you can either live by rules or live from relationship.

the thought of living by rules grieves me. This is what Paul was correcting them on when he first uses the phrase “the just shall live by faith” in . “Guys, this thing is bigger than just keeping some rules!”
Ill: I don’t cheat on my wife. If I break the rules, there are consequences. The Al Green

The Just Trust
6 But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.
1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

What makes them just?
Faith can be summed up in 1 word “Trust” Living by Trust
The foundational question…do you trust God?
Peter walking on water vs. 31 you of “little” trust
God will call you to places that aren’t solid; into middle of deep stuff; where you can’t see all of Him.
And this is how God met Abraham…a relationship that will be built on trust.
Wherever there is faith - active demonstration of trusting God there will be reward
6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
