SPEAK TO NEED
What is most important to you is the place you will most want to be, and will end up being. What?
Matthew 6:21 ESV
21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Yet,many of us spend our time, talents, and treasure in areas that we don’t want; AM I RIGHT ABOUT IT? How many of you are excited about paying your electric bill, your phone bill, car payment, student loans? It not our mission in life to be debt to BGE or Delmarva… But where we give should be where we want to see great things happen!
Hallelujah, God has a word for us today to help us resist the pull! Tell someone near your resist the pull; resist the pull!
PLEASE STAND WITH ME FOR THE READING OF GOD’S HOLY WORD!
2 Corinthians 8:8–15 ESV
8 I say this not as a command, but to prove by the earnestness of others that your love also is genuine. 9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich. 10 And in this matter I give my judgment: this benefits you, who a year ago started not only to do this work but also to desire to do it. 11 So now finish doing it as well, so that your readiness in desiring it may be matched by your completing it out of what you have. 12 For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have. 13 For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened, but that as a matter of fairness 14 your abundance at the present time should supply their need, so that their abundance may supply your need, that there may be fairness. 15 As it is written, “Whoever gathered much had nothing left over, and whoever gathered little had no lack.”
State Key Verse: So now finish doing it as well, so that your readiness in desiring it may be matched by your completing it out of what you have. (2 Cor 8:11)
I like to preach this morning as the Holy Spirit guides from the thought...
State the Title: YOU ARE A FINISHER! <Tells somebody don’t give up on Jesus…it worth it

YOU ARE A FINISHER!

Prayer of Illumination: Father, send your Holy Spirit and fill us that our hearts are receptive to your word. Help me to be faithful to your word, give me clarity needful for our journey, give me your power to preach with the authority you have given, and passion for your glory to be revealed, guide us by your wisdom, may I decrease and you INCREASE LORD JESUS and set all captives free, loosen every chain in Jesus name.
INTRODUCTION
When we are praying about this new work of planting a new Church we found out some interesting things that could have cause us to waiver in what God has called us to do, one was that the average person in the a congregation only gave $200 / year? Who in the world can a church function when God’s people give so little? In this text Paul is addressing the generosity of the church in Macedonia and encourages now the Church of Corith to also remember Jerusalem.
In similar ways Paul has been in labor...
Who: The Apostle Paul writes this letter to the church of Corinth (planted on second missionary journey) and sends it by Titus hand. This is the 4th and final letter; 1 Cor was the second letter, the first letter as lost, the 3rd was the tearful letter possibly following his painful second visit.
What: A minority of the church of Corinth are still questioning Paul’s Apostleship; false apostles are now there in the church, Paul defends his apostleship of Jesus Christ because the Gospel and the spiritual life of the Corinthian Church is as stake.
When: He wrote this letter on his 3rd missionary journey.
Where: From Macedonia
Why: His opponent have tried to destroy his credibility, but he sees the love and grace of God at work in their hearts.

The Apostle Paul offers challenges in this text to the believers at Corinth to understand that giving part of our mission in Christ. But, how can we be mobilize in the same mission to be givers like Christ?

We must...

I. Be Generous in the Love as Christ (vv. 8-9)

A. ________ How many of you here have had someone say they loved you but you knew differently?

somebody needs to thank God that you know what real love looks like now?
look at our text.
2 Corinthians 8:8–9 ESV
8 I say this not as a command, but to prove by the earnestness of others that your love also is genuine. 9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.
LISTEN

B. REAL LOVE INVOLVES BOTH CONCERN OF NEEDS AND PERSONAL SACRIFICE TO MEET THE NEED. JESUS IS THE MODEL OF LOVE AT WORK THROUGH GIVING...

Romans 5:8 ESV
8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Luke 4:18–19 ESV
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
Where does your prophetic vision have you looking?

C. WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT FROM THE WORLD______________? IT IS HOW WE LOVE; WE MOST REALLY LOVE ONE ANOTHER. WHY? LOVE IS THE GLUE THE HOLDS US TOGETHER AND THE OIL THAT KEEPS US FROM RUBBING EACH OTHER THE WRONG WAY. LOVE IS HOW THE WOLD WILL KNOW WE ARE CHRIST DISCPLES AND START RIGHT.

The Apostle Paul offers challenges in this text to the believers at Corinth to understand that giving part of our mission in Christ. But, how can we be mobilized in the same mission to be givers like Christ?
We must...

II. BE INSPIRED BY THE POWER OF CHRIST (10-11)

A. ______ hOW MANY OF YOU HAVE STARTED SOMETHIN BUT NEVER FINISHED IT? WHY? IT MAY HAVE BEEN A GOOD IDEA, BUT FOR SOME REASON THE IDEA WAS NOT ENOUGH TO KEEP YOU MOBILIZED.

WAtch this; look what Paul sees in them...
2 Corinthians 8:10–11 ESV
10 And in this matter I give my judgment: this benefits you, who a year ago started not only to do this work but also to desire to do it. 11 So now finish doing it as well, so that your readiness in desiring it may be matched by your completing it out of what you have.
B. GOD WANTS US TO FINISH WHAT WE START PERSONALLY AND ESPECIALLY IN MINISTRY!
TO START GIVING WITH COMPASSION
2 Corinthians 9:7 ESV
7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
THAT IS GREAT BUT WE MUST SEE IT THROUGH, WE MUST FOLLOW THROUGH, AND FINISHING IT FOR HIS GLORY. HIS GIVES THE INSPIRIATION, PASSION AND DESIRE.
1 Corinthians 15:58 ESV
58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

C. God made you a finisher________. HE PROVIDES THE FIRE, BUT WE PROVIDE THE SACRIFICE!

The Apostle Paul offers challenges in this text to the believers at Corinth to understand that giving part of our mission in Christ. But, how can we be mobilized in the same mission to be givers like Christ?
We must...

III. BE PASSIONATE FINISHING THE MISSION OF CHRIST (vv. 12-15)

A. _______the world is in need under the weight of sin, suffering and disease. So sitting on the sidelines is that optional no more. Why? Because God has given all of us provision to be helpful somewhere but we must be fair!!!!.

Look that the last verses
2 Corinthians 8:12–15 ESV
12 For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have. 13 For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened, but that as a matter of fairness 14 your abundance at the present time should supply their need, so that their abundance may supply your need, that there may be fairness. 15 As it is written, “Whoever gathered much had nothing left over, and whoever gathered little had no lack.”

35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
Things might seem a little bitter right now but our God is in the middle of it with us stirring the pot and soon things with be sweet.
