THEME VERSE
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Jesus wants to expose the darkness. Cannot remain hidden!
Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.
Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.
The greatest of God’s acts in regard to darkness is his spritual rescue of people from darkness through the work of Christ. God himself “is light and in him there is no darkness at all”.
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.
Christ is a light that “shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it”

Jesus came “as the light of the world,” so that everyone who believes in him “should not remain in the darkness”
I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.
Darkness is the thing from which God in Christ delivers people. Some of the greatest redemption images.
When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he withdrew to Galilee. Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali—to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah: “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles— the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.” From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us. My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
Jesus wants to expose the darkness. Cannot remain hidden!
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.
