When we feel like God isn’t here for us, how do we stay close to Him?
Doubt: God where are you?
I don’t feel you close by!
But what has God said?
“I will never leave you or forsake you.
I am with you even to the end of the age.” - Jesus.
Is this true?
(Yes)
How do you know that this statement is true?
(Because God is trustworthy, faithful, doesn’t lie, He is different than human beings, His keeps His promises, etc)
Know God:
“In the beginning, God...”
God said let there be light, and there was light.
God said “I will flood the earth” so build an ark.
It rained 40 days & nights, waters fell from the sky and burst through the surface of the earth.
God said “I have heard my people and I will rescue them from the hand of pharoah.”
God rescues them from Pharoah.
God said, “I will lead you to the Land I have promised” and He did.
,
God said I will send a man related to King David, who will sit on David’s throne forever.
He did His name is Jesus, the King of kings and Lord of lords.
“I will never leave you or forsake you.”
*From these verses what can we be sure of about God? (He always does what He says)
Recognize what He is doing: (teaching us to walk by faith in what we already know of Him)
In our lives we have times when we feel very close to God and times we feel like He is far away.
Yet what might really be going on?
God wants us to walk by faith in what we know of Him currently.
To apply what we know of Him to our current situations.
Such as God is Love - when we feel like no one likes/loves us.
We can like the Psalmist wrote in “Why am I discouraged?
Why is my heart so sad?
I will put my hope in God! (remember who He is/what He’s done) I will praise Him again - my Savior and my God.”
Choosing to participate with Him:
Choosing to participate with Him:
This life learning who God is and letting Him truly speak into our lives is not something that happens without our participation.
Our salvation is simply by believing the Gospel however our life as a Follower of Christ asks for our involvement.
The righteous shall walk/live by faith.
Faith - believing what God has said is true.
We are to act upon our faith.
Live according to what we believe.
**If you believe that Wegmans Mac-n-Cheese is better than Kraft Mac-n-Cheese then you will buy Wegmans brand.
You wouldn’t let your parents ever buy Kraft!
What we believe can be seen in how we live our lives.
You can see what a person truly believes about life through watching what they do.
We need to apply the truths of God to our lives.
(Expand?)
Know Him: Does He ever leave us? (No)
Recognize what He is doing: building our faith by His truth
How do I deal with those feelings?
(remind myself of His truths)
Choose to Participate: choose to praise Him.
