Titus 2:1 ESV
1 But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine.
Titus 1:16 ESV
16 They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.

Believers are to live in such a way that their works don’t undermine their witness.

The New American Commentary: 1, 2 Timothy, Titus 1. Exhortations for Right Behavior (2:1–10)

good works are a necessary and natural result of believing “sound doctrine.”

Titus 2:1 ESV
1 But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine.

Good works are the natural result of embracing sound doctrine.

Belief & Behavior go hand in hand.

The word, “sound” hugaino – which gives us our word, hygiene
The science of the establishment and maintenance of health.
Titus is to teach hygienic doctrine.

Belief and behavior go hand in hand.

What others see in you either encourages their faith or discourages it!
You are not an island unto yourself.
The private personal nature of Christianity has been emphasized to the point where we have lost the biblical emphasis of the corporate nature of Christianity.
Groups within the church. - He stars with those who are more mature!

You should mature spiritually as you age physically.

Titus 2:2–4 ESV
2 Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. 3 Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, 4 and so train the young women to love their husbands and children,

Godly character points others to Christ.

Spiritual maturity means clear-headed.

Do my actions clarify the gospel?

OR

Do my actions confuse the gospel?

When others watch my walk to do they know I am following Jesus?

When others hear my talk to do they know I am proclaiming biblical truth?
