The Jewish leaders wanted a astrological or cosmic sign.
Even though Jesus had performed many “earthly” miracles like healings, food, raising the dead, they were not satisfied and denied his claims of deity.
Jesus refused to do more that he had already performed.
He knew they wouldn’t have believed him if he had.
Their problem wasn’t lack of facts but lack of faith.
Faith requires one to admit they need a Savior.
Jesus was very clear of the consequences of those who choose not to believe.
Jesus was troubled, because food, clothing, etc., is temporary, but he was offering eternal life but many were blinded by temporary needs.
