The Problem with Reaching

I love watching the show WIPEOUT
Have you ever reached out to grab ahold of something you wanted only to get your hand slapped? Do you think that taught you anything?
If you have ever REALLY reached for something, you tend to become a little off- balanced & might run the risk of falling.
Sometimes experiences teach us NOT TO REACH
There’s only 1 problem with that:

The Devil Doesn’t Want Us to Reach but God DOES!

Miracles happen when we REACH in faith!
Mark 3:1–5 NKJV
1 And He entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a withered hand. 2 So they watched Him closely, whether He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him. 3 And He said to the man who had the withered hand, “Step forward.” 4 Then He said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they kept silent. 5 And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other.
Matthew 9:20–22 NKJV
20 And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. 21 For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.” 22 But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour.
Matt11:12.13
Matthew 11:12–13 KJV 1900
12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. 13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
Perhaps the worst thing that could have happened for the woman with the issue of blood is that if she never reached, nothing would have changed.
Matthew 11:12 NKJV
12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.
Exodus 4:2–4 NKJV
2 So the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.” 3 And He said, “Cast it on the ground.” So he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it. 4 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Reach out your hand and take it by the tail” (and he reached out his hand and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand),

Sometimes we see something that God wants us to reach & grab ahold of, but it is scary -Grab it anyway!
When it comes to our financial situation:
We must reach in order to GET wealth - Maybe we should reach first with prayer and with our ears to hear what GOD would have us do
Deuteronomy 8:18 NKJV
18 “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
Deut
When it pertains to relationships with family:
Gifts can reach for us in relationships
Genesis 32:18–20 NKJV
18 then you shall say, ‘They are your servant Jacob’s. It is a present sent to my lord Esau; and behold, he also is behind us.’ ” 19 So he commanded the second, the third, and all who followed the droves, saying, “In this manner you shall speak to Esau when you find him; 20 and also say, ‘Behold, your servant Jacob is behind us.’ ” For he said, “I will appease him with the present that goes before me, and afterward I will see his face; perhaps he will accept me.”
Gen32:18-20
Proverbs 18:16 NKJV
16 A man’s gift makes room for him, And brings him before great men.

Jesus Was a Reacher!

Matthew 14:30–33 The Message
30 But when he looked down at the waves churning beneath his feet, he lost his nerve and started to sink. He cried, “Master, save me!” 31 Jesus didn’t hesitate. He reached down and grabbed his hand. Then he said, “Faint-heart, what got into you?” 32 The two of them climbed into the boat, and the wind died down. 33 The disciples in the boat, having watched the whole thing, worshiped Jesus, saying, “This is it! You are God’s Son for sure!”
Psalm 40:1–3 NKJV
1 I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry. 2 He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps. 3 He has put a new song in my mouth— Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord.
God reaches to save us & change our doom into destiny.
Acts 3:6–8 NKJV
6 Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” 7 And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. 8 So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God.
God will use your hands to reach someone and bring them strength when they have no strength of their own.

Ps40
Story of Jason turning back to minister to the woman in need.
Romans 5:8 NKJV
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Lk 15.3
Luke 15:3–7 KJV 1900
3 And he spake this parable unto them, saying, 4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? 5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. 7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
matt14:30-33
Mark 3:1–5 KJV 1900
1 And he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there which had a withered hand. 2 And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath day; that they might accuse him. 3 And he saith unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth. 4 And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace. 5 And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.
Mk3:1-
Isaiah 54:2–4 KJV 1900
2 Enlarge the place of thy tent, And let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: Spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes; 3 For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; And thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, And make the desolate cities to be inhabited. 4 Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: Neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: For thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, And shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.
When we aren’t reaching, our tent gets very small because it is centered around something small - I.
Isaiah 54:2 KJV 1900
2 Enlarge the place of thy tent, And let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: Spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;

Just One Thing:

Until the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change, we will remain the same!
Realize that not-reaching in your spirit, your relationships, & your finances is costing you more than you know. REACH!!!
Matthew 14:30–31 The Message
