The Storm

Faith vs. Fear

12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Its not all about fighting the devil, sometimes there’s a fight that I can’t see and it’s between my faith vs fears.
Mark 4:35–39 NKJV
35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
Mark 4:35-39
This main text focuses solely on Jesus, as He goes from bringing revelation of heaven to man and teachings of different magnitudes;
He wanted to get a break, He wanted to get some rest.
Have you ever pushed yourself so hard you just wanted to take a break or nap?
Jesus even shows us multiple times in His ministry that you must take breaks to recover.
Somebody knows what it’s like to just want a break.
If I could just have a break, I could relax and get myself together.
And when you get your break, your nap, your time of peace.
And when you get your break, your nap, your time of peace.
Oh how good and pleasant it is for brethren to take a nap.
Jesus give an instruction,
Let us cross over to the other side.”
All to get some rest Jesus is relaxing on the yacht as they are cruising in the sea.
And all of a sudden, a windstorm arose, and not just a normal windstorm it was a great windstorm, that appeared out of no where.
Sometimes it’s not the storm that messes us up, because some storms in life you can see it coming.
Clouds gather up, you already know the deal.
But its those storms that we don’t see that really messes us up.
Come on you see the clouds of financial struggles coming from a mile away, and so you say baby it’s going to be tough this month, it’s going to be a little tight.
You see the clouds of rejection coming from a ways off, because you know they laugh in your face but they dogging you out behind close doors.
But what happens when everything is peaceful, and the daughter that you raised, to be a young lady who chases God and not boys, you raised her the best way you could, provided everything for her, and she walks in your room one night to tell you, “Momma I’m pregnant.”
What happens when you been serving the Lord for many years and your husband out of no where tells you, “I want a divorce”
It’s the storms we can’t see coming that is the worst.
Mark 4:37–38 NKJV
37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
mark 4:37-38
They knew that they were dying, and possibly going to expire, What made them wake up Jesus out of His sleep, because He did some things before, they figured since it’s all over, we’re about to die… I must get His attention..
Jesus gets up probably upset...
Mark 4:39 NKJV
39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
mark 4:39
The reason why the wind and sea’s obeyed, is because the elements heard the sound of the Creator.
Genesis 1:3 NKJV
3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
Genesis 1:9–10 NKJV
9 Then God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so. 10 And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. And God saw that it was good.
John 1:1 NKJV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Genesis 1:2 NKJV
2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
