Introduction
Greetings...
As most of you know we have been studying “The Glorious Church Of Christ” within the pages of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians in our Prison Epistles Series and so far we have determined..
The body or church of Christ is that which has been eternally planned ().
When we are “outside of Christ’s body” we are dead in our trespasses and sins which is why it is so important to be a part of the “body of Christ” ().
God made it possible to “enter into the eternally planned church” through the blood of Christ and His Law it created which unified all the peoples both Jew and Gentile ().
This “unity of the spirit” keeps the bond of peace through adhering to the “calling to which you have been called” through proper leadership in the “The Glorious Church Of Christ” ().
That brings us to our text today wherein we read of “The New Man” found in Christ that is better than that old sinful self.
With this in mind let’s look at our lesson today.
Walks Not In Futility
The word futility means uselessness.
It means without value.
In other words walking according to the world is without any spiritual value and is pointless therefore.
Walking in futility means...
Walking in the dark blind.
Walking with hardened hearts.
Walking in a corrupted life full of deceitful desires.
Summery
Walking in a spiritually pointless and valueless life seems crazy and dreadful.
That former “old self of sin” was not one of joy and excitement but anxiety and dread.
This is why it is so important every new man...
Walks According To The Truth In Jesus
Requires being taught Jesus.
Eph
This means studying Jesus.
This means studying Jesus’ Word.
This means studying Jesus’ Word in light of judgment.
Requires putting off the old self.
Eph
This is the life outside of Christ.
Requires being renewed in the spirit of your mind.
Eph
This is the renewal of the Holy Spirit during the washing and regeneration i.e. baptism.
Requires being created in the likeness of God.
This means being born again () as righteous.
Mt 4
This means being born again () as holy.
When we are born again into righteousness and holiness there is an expectation by God that...
This new man walks in truth.
Eph
He doesn’t lie to his neighbor but in love always speaks truth putting his neighbor’s soul front and center.
This means he doesn’t lie about his friends lost soul.
This also means he doesn’t lie about his brothers or sisters sin.
He doesn’t allow anger at sin to corrupt him.
Eph 4:
Anger to the point of sin is always walking according to the flesh not the spirit.
He doesn’t steal but works hard and is able to help others.
Eph 4:
Stealing is taking and at no time are we, Christians, to be takers but givers when it comes to benevolence.
He doesn’t speak with corrupting talk.
Corrupting talk, by definition, destroys and tears down instead of building up.
Talk that is meant to corrupt others steals their joy in Christ instead of encouraging them.
He is kind, tenderhearted, forgiving as God forgave in Christ.
Forgiveness requires our kindness and tenderheartedness toward the one that sinned against us.

Summery
We who have been “born again” () into a “new creation” () have been made “free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death” ().
“The old has passed away” making “you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.”
Conclusion
We must never walk according to worldly, fleshly standards but according to the highest standards there are, the standards of our Creator.
When we fully appreciate our “new selves” we can then truly appreciate our God.
