Two questions face any person who would follow Jesus:
Do I comprehend the depth of love it took to pay the penalty for my sin?
Have I realized my life is no longer my own and God has a specific plan for my life?
In this passage Jesus lays out the requirements to be a true disciple.
We do not earn Heaven by accomplishing these requirements, but as a true follower, these requirements will become our lifestyle.
(1) we must surrender ourselves completely to Him;
(2) we must identify with Him in suffering and death; and
(3) we must follow Him obediently, wherever He leads.
