Zig Ziller qoute about the wrong person
Peter is giving believers some what of a handbook for how to live Godly in a hostile world.
We cannot allow culture to define family
The Role of a Husband
The Role of a Wife
He gives us instructions in four areas that we have to learn how to flow in..
Government or Social interaction Your interaction with Society
Society=
Work Place with your Employers
Family
Church
The Context is this...
for functionality
That in the 1st century Roman ruled world a woman had few or no rights.
Dont submit when its sin or senseless or stupid
The thought is that they were both unbelievers and the one spouse got saved while they were already married.

Danger to Wife in waiting

As if marriage isn't difficult enough because Marriage will just magnify the person that you already are.
It just makes matters worse when one spouse is a believer and the other isn't
You are making a big mistake that one can ever make is to marry an unbeliever
1 Corinthians 6:14 ESV
14 And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power.
Don’t marry someone who doesn't know the Lord
2 Corinthians 6:14 GW
14 Stop forming inappropriate relationships with unbelievers. Can right and wrong be partners? Can light have anything in common with darkness?
2 Corinthians 6:14 The Message
14 Don’t become partners with those who reject God. How can you make a partnership out of right and wrong? That’s not partnership; that’s war. Is light best friends with dark?
Sure there are exceptions that someone married someone that doesn't know the Lord and God allowed that unbelieving spouse to come to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ but that isn't as common.
The most common thing is that you have that believing spouse miserable because its very difficult ( its possible ) but its very difficult for a house to be in harmony when one does not know the Lord.
Or the marriage ends in heart ache and pain, not in every case but in most
So Peter is speaking to persons who were already married and one comes into a relationship with Jesus
There are grounds for divorce even though we don’t promote divorce
Abandonment = Spouse just leaves no longer desires to be married
Abuse = Mental Abuse , Emotional Abuse and Physical Abuse
Adultery
Continuation: don’t leave for the wrong reasons
And sometimes it still doesn't get better Your spouse could be your cross

The Deeds of a Godly Woman

The Actions of a Godly Woman
Submission
1 Peter 3:1 ESV
1 Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives,
Likewise= verse 13 Like Citizens verse 18 like employees
Because God tells us to Submit and because we choose to obey it doesn't make the individual or the system better or superior
For there to be order, for there to be functionality we must Submit
I think that a lot of times we miss it when it comes to the make up of the Kingdom
We are equal in the Spirit
Galatians 3:28 ESV
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
This is why I feel comfortable calling my Wife Pastor because the makeup of the Kingdom and our natural home is two different things
But when it comes to the Home by God’s design the Male is the head.
But before our feminist get to bent out of shape we are called to be subject to each other.
But we are called to be subject to each other.
Ephesians 5:21 ESV
21 submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.
Subject: place or arrange under, assign
to be submissive v. — to be or become inclined or willing to submit to orders or wishes of others or showing such inclination.
Liddell, H. G., Scott, R., Jones, H. S., & McKenzie, R. (1996). A Greek-English lexicon (p. 1897). Oxford: Clarendon Press.
to be submissive v. — to be or become inclined or willing to submit to orders or wishes of others or showing such inclination.
“being under authority”) carries the force of a command (cf. 2:18).
Line up under a military term.
This command is for wives to submit to their own husbands (cf. ; ).
The command does not require women to be subordinate to men in general but to their husbands as a function of order within the home.
A wife is to accept her place in the family under the leadership of her husband whom God has placed as head in the home.
Wives are to be submissive even if their husbands are unbelievers, so those men might be saved by the behavior of their wives.
Submission is an obligation (v. 1a). God has commanded it because, in His wisdom, He knows that this is the best arrangement for a happy, fulfilling marriage.
Subjection does not mean that the wife is inferior to the husband. In fact, in , Peter made it clear that the husband and wife are “heirs together.”
The man and woman are made by the same Creator out of the same basic material, and both are made in God’s image. God gave dominion to both Adam and Eve (), and in Jesus Christ Christian mates are one ().
Submission has to do with order and authority, not evaluation. For example, the slaves in the average Roman household were superior in many ways to their masters, but they still had to be under authority.
The buck private in the army may be a better person than the five-star general, but he is still a buck private. Even Christ Himself became a servant and submitted to God’s will. There is nothing degrading about submitting to authority or accepting God’s order. If anything, it is the first step toward fulfillment. And makes it clear that both husband and wife must first be submitted to Jesus Christ.
Husbands and wives must be partners, not competitors. After a wedding ceremony, I often privately say to the bride and groom, “Now, remember, from now on it’s no longer mine or yours, but ours.”
Pastor John Piper had some really good insight in light of submission

Submission is not agreeing on everything.

2. Submission does not mean leaving your brain at the altar.

3. Submission does not mean you do not try to influence your husband.

4. Submission is not putting the will of the husband before the will of Christ.

“I will not follow your lead on this, and I am not following you with a demeanor that tells you I want to follow your leadership but cannot in this moment, in this way.”
Don’t submit when its sin or senseless or stupid

5. Submission does not mean getting all of her spiritual strength through her husband.

6. Submission does not mean living or acting in fear.

1 Peter 3:6 AMP
6 It was thus that Sarah obeyed Abraham [following his guidance and acknowledging his headship over her by] calling him lord (master, leader, authority). And you are now her true daughters if you do right and let nothing terrify you [not giving way to hysterical fears or letting anxieties unnerve you].
