Life History:
Charlsie Green was born December 29, 1941, in Kansas City, MO, to her parents, Charles and Nelly Wired. She entered into her eternal home and the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 29, 2018, also here in Kansas City (at NorthCare Hospice in NKCH), at the age of 76 years and 10 months—after many years of battling back related and COPD health isssues.
In Charlsie’s childhood home, along with her parents, there were three sisters—Myrtle, Becky, and Elta. She grew up enjoying life and developing a key component which would characterize her life…caring about and caring for people. As far as school goes, she graduated from NKCHS in 1959…and for her, that was all the school she would need.
Throughout her adult life, she would have various jobs. Two of the more notable and enjoyable places where she worked were National Plastics and Holiday Inn…Oh, there is an exception to these. Her most satisfying career involved being a Mom and Wife as she cared for her family.
Speaking of those most cherished of titles—Wife and Mom—she met the man who became the love of her life, Bob Green, in 1959. As I am told, the story is that they met because her sister, Becky, was married to the best friend of this guy named Bob. Having gotten to know each other, they eventually took a road trip to Miami, OK, where they were married on May 6, 1960.
Having established their home together as husband and wife, our Lord saw fit to bless them by adding to their family two children, Nelly and Bob (Bobby…as I heard his sister call him a few days ago). Their family was a welcoming place for so, so many. Any kids that came over were considered by Charlsie to be her kids. As her son was telling me…first, let it be said that everyone has said that one thing Charlsie enjoyed doing was cooking…so, when Bob told me that one of his good friends who came over frequently learned to cook right there in his Mom & Dad’s house, and is now a professional chef…that just seems right. Other fond memories for the family involved Charlsie and her niece, Margaret, taking a midnight drive to find Bobby out at Smithville Lake, Charlsie getting upset with Bob for not picking her up from work...until she realized she had the car that day, and not wanting her kids to have to grow up and have to start working, like Nelly had talked about doing at age 14 at World’s of Fun. Simply put, she adored her family and thoroughly enjoyed all the time they spent together.
Charlsie had a number of hobbies and interests. Like we’ve said, she enjoyed cooking…even fried chicken, which she didn’t care for but prepared for Bob (since it was his favorite). In prepping the chicken, she really scrubbed it to get it ready…one time she even cleaned it with dish soap. I also heard about chocolate meringue pies and Christmas candy (and like I did when we talked about this the other day…now I’m hungry!) She also enjoyed crafts, like crochet and ceramics. The ceramics she created were often transported to various places…in a hearse (which had orange curtains in it Margaret had made for those back windows)! No matter the hobby…relationships with others..definitely her family…and so many, many friends…were her greatest joy. She loved people…not caring about race, or anything else…she cared for people. Her family describes her as loving, caring, helping, giving, and a peacemaker…great tributes—all of them.
Speaking of caring for people…Charlsie embodied that characteristic of love of others which our Lord, Jesus Christ, set for us through His life. She also had a significant faith in our great God. Having so often been involved in church life, she had attended McMurray Methodist Church in Claycomo, she recognized the importance of honoring God. As one of my church members, who was a long-time friend (Elsie), has shared with me, Charlsie had talked with her about having a relationship with God through Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Folks, yes it’s my job…my life…but this is the most important aspect of our lives which anyone could ever say about us. Ever. Our life is certainly the here-and-now…and just as certainly the eternal, with the hope of heaven only coming through repentance of our sin and faith in Jesus as the one who died on the cross and rose again to save us for His glory!
Charlsie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Nelly; and her sister, Myrtle. She is survived by her husband, Bob; her sisters, Becky and Elta; her children, Nelly and Bob; one grandson Bobby; four great grandchildren, Shelby, Kodi, Ava, & Charli; and many other family and friends.

Message:
A psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I have what I need. He lets me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside quiet waters. He renews my life; he leads me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even when I go through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for you are with me; your rod and your staff—they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord as long as I live.
Our LORD is…& is Our Shepherd!
Therefore, even at times like now, we have what we need...
The Rest We Need. ()
The Direction We Need. ()
The Protection We Need. ()
The Provision We Need. (, )
Our Response to God. ()
As in death, also in life…our greatest need is a relationship with God through Jesus Christ!
For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
Then, at any time and any place in our lives we can say...
We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.

GRAVESIDE:
Scripture:
We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, concerning those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, in the same way, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For we say this to you by a word from the Lord: We who are still alive at the Lord’s coming will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel’s voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are still alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.
