I Do

“Dearly beloved, we have gathered here today, in the sight of God to witness the union of this man and woman of holy matrimony.” Begins the wedding ceremony. But, before the couple gets to the alter there must be an established relationship and mutual decision of commitment to each other. So that when the vows are read, “do you take this person to be your lawfully wedded spouse, to have and to hold, to cherish, in sickness and in health, richer or poorer, as long as you both shall live, and the person says, “I do’” they are not lying. I do. That’s the promise. But, what exactly is the promise? Not from the just from the vows, but from scripture. Because, the vows can be for any person but for the follower of Jesus there is a biblical promise and commitment that we make when we enter marriage.

1. Church-like Submission of the Wife

Deal with the word “submit” -an attitude

Deal with the term “head” the head’s job is to lead the body

As to the Lord. First of all this lets us know that there is a higher authority, so submission cannot be to the Lord, if it is not the way of the lord. So suffering abuse, or disobeying the word unto sin, is not submitting “as to the Lord” because the Lord would never ask such a thing.

2. Christ-like Love of the Husband

Love-its easy for someone to submit if they have someone godly to submit too.

As Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.-This is difficult task because it’s impossible to live up to completely. But I had to ask how did Christ love?

He died for the church,

Sanctify her…So the best interest of the Church was in mind of Christ so must the best interest of the Wife be to the husband.

Love as yourself

He who loves his wife loves himself (happy wife happy life)
