Zeke - Thats just what we do

What Should Christians be known by?

What do you call someone who never thanks anyone?
We are quick to run to God in times of need but are we as quick to offer Him thanks in times of abundance?
A thorough study of the use of this word in scripture can lead to one conclusion: Everywhere and in every situation, God’s people should continually give thanks to God, the One who has created and redeemed them.

What if you woke up with only the things you thanked God for last week?

Psalm 69:30 NKJV
I will praise the name of God with a song, And will magnify Him with thanksgiving.
Psalm 69:18–20 NKJV
Draw near to my soul, and redeem it; Deliver me because of my enemies. You know my reproach, my shame, and my dishonor; My adversaries are all before You. Reproach has broken my heart, And I am full of heaviness; I looked for someone to take pity, but there was none; And for comforters, but I found none.
Psalm 69:31 NKJV
This also shall please the Lord better than an ox or bull, Which has horns and hooves.
Psalm 69:32 NKJV
The humble shall see this and be glad; And you who seek God, your hearts shall live.
Psalm 69:33 NKJV
For the Lord hears the poor, And does not despise His prisoners.
Psalm 69:34 NKJV
Let heaven and earth praise Him, The seas and everything that moves in them.
Psalm 69:35 NKJV
For God will save Zion And build the cities of Judah, That they may dwell there and possess it.
A thorough study of the use of this word in scripture can lead to one conclusion: Everywhere and in every situation, God’s people should continually give thanks to God, the One who has created and redeemed them.

Why are we not more thankful?

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

Philippians 4:6–7 NKJV
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Colossians 3:12–17 NKJV
Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Colossians 4:12–17 NKJV
Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. For I bear him witness that he has a great zeal for you, and those who are in Laodicea, and those in Hierapolis. Luke the beloved physician and Demas greet you. Greet the brethren who are in Laodicea, and Nymphas and the church that is in his house. Now when this epistle is read among you, see that it is read also in the church of the Laodiceans, and that you likewise read the epistle from Laodicea. And say to Archippus, “Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it.”

A LIFE OF THANKFULNESS IS EXPECTED.

Colossians 2:6–7 NKJV
As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.

1 Timothy 1:12 NKJV

Ephesians 5:18–20 NKJV
And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
psalm 107
Luke 17:12–19 NKJV
Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.”
