Last time we met we looked at how God sent Jesus to earth on a rescue mission to save the lost.
Last time we met we looked at how God sent Jesus to earth on a rescue mission to save the lost.
Tonight we are going to see Jesus demonstrate His divinity firsthand.
Jesus is God with skin on.
His works bear witness of His divinity
Context: Jesus has just fed a huge crowd of 5,000 people with 5 loaves and 2 fishes.
Let’s jump into the story.
Important note, Jesus goes off to spend time alone with His Father in prayer.
If you want to have a quality relationship with Jesus you too must get alone with God.
Just like any other relationship.
I never got close to a person without first spending time alone with them.
Storms Will Come
One thing in life that I can guarantee will happen in your Christian walk is that storms will come.
You will be tested, and it will be hard.
You will may even feel like there is no way through it.
The disciples felt this was on this particular night.
Matthew 14:24-2
This literal, physical event is a picture of the storms you will face in the Christian life.
Why would God do this?
If He is a good God, why would he allow us to be put in a trying situation?
Simply put, to teach us complete and utter dependance on Christ.
Fix Your Eyes on Jesus In the Midst of the Storm
Fortunately for us, there is an easy way for us to make it through a storm.
By fixing our eyes on Jesus.
As long as Peter had his focus on Jesus, he walked on water.
Matthew 14:27-
He transcended the storm.
Not on his own, but by the help of Jesus.
Never Lose Sight of Jesus
Unfortunately, Peter stops to think of how crazy the situation he is in really is.
He takes his eyes off Jesus and starts to realize that he is doing the impossible.
When he does this, the storm overtakes him.
The storm overtakes him.
He loses sight of Christ and begins to get lost in the storm.
Matthew 14:30-3
Jesus is the Son of God
An amazing thing about Jesus is that even when we lose sight of Him, He is always seeking after us.
Jesus pulls Peter up out of the storm.
Whenever we recognize Jesus for who He really is, the Son of God, we must turn to Him daily
You will be able to walk on water, do the impossible, for His glory.
You will be able to
Through Him you will be able to turn the world upside down no matter what situations may arise.
Why does God allow us to go through a storm?
Philippians 2:
How do you over come the storms of life?
