What's Christmas all about
What’s Christmas all about – Matt. 1:18
The Christmas story is a beautiful on. I talks about obedience and the choices we make. It is also about how God uses common man and pagan kings.
The Christmas story is about:

A. Who came up with a plan to get all his people registered so he could brag on it.
B. Every one had to go into his own city. David’s city being Bethlehem.
C. While they were there the Christ child was born in God’s perfect timing as God had prophesied in Micah 5.
II. A Young Girl, Mary (Luke 1:26-38)
A. She was hardly 12-14 yrs. old, but one that had been hand picked by God.
B. Certainly not because she was sinless. We know little of Mary, God knew much more.
C. It was because of Mary love for the Father.

2. Mary was a virgin from a poor household.

A. V.8- these shepherds were 5-6 miles outside Bethlehem.
B. Came with haste – wasted no time in getting there – even left the sheep.
C. They left and spread the good news of the savior’s birth

A. We know little of Joseph. He was a carpenter and was the son of Jacob.
B. God knew much more about him. God knew He could trust him to raise His “only begotten son”.
C. Father’s, would God have considered you to raise His son? What qualifications do you suppose God used?
D. Joseph and Mary are bestrode to be married. That’s as binding as the marriage itself except they don’t live together.
1. V.18- the dilemma – Mary was pregnant
2. V.19- the deliberation – what was he to do
a. He loved her too much to make a mockery of her. Certainly he wouldn’t stone her

3. V. 20-23- the dream –
a. Joseph realized God was going to use him in a mighty way.

V. God
A. It’s about God sending his son into the world to be a blood sacrifice for our sins.
B. It’s about his great love for us.
C. He showed his love for us by giving his best. How do you show your love for Him.
