                                             Moving with Godly Fear                10/21/07 a.m.

                                                                                                Heb 11:7

 Heb 11:7    7 By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

As Noah was divinely warned of things not yet seen, so have we been warned of things not yet seen but that are coming according to Gods' word; it would serve us well to move with Godly fear and prepare for the saving of our household!

It’s life as usual to the unseeing eye

Mt 24:37-3937 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

Lk 17:28-3028 Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; 29 but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.

Lets look at 3 areas this morning.

  1. Things divinely warned of;
  2. Moving with godly fear;
  3. Preparing an ark for the saving of our household;

Things divinely warned of;

1.     Increase of wars and rumors of war

Joel 3:9-10; Matt. 24:6-7

2.     Extreme materialism

Tim. 3:1-2   But know this, that in the last days 1perilous times (times of stress) will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters,

Rev. 3:14-20

3.          Lawlessness

 Mt 24:12     lawlessness will abound

Lawlessness

88.139 ἀνομία, ας f: to behave with complete disregard for the laws or regulations of a society—‘as ‘to live as though there were no laws,’ ‘to refuse completely to obey the laws,’ or ‘to live as one who despises all laws.’[1]

Ps. 78:8;

Prov. 30:11-14; 11     There is a generation that curses its father,

     And does not bless its mother.

12     There is a generation that is pure in its own eyes,

     Yet is not washed from its filthiness.

13     There is a generation—oh, how lofty are their eyes!

     And their eyelids are 2lifted up. (In arrogance)

14      There is a generation whose teeth are like swords,

     And whose fangs are like knives,

      To devour the poor from off the earth,

     And the needy from among men.

 2 Tim. 3:1-4 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be, …. proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

4.     Population explosion

            Gen. 6:1

5.     Increase in speed and knowledge

Dan. 12:44 “But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”

6.     Departure from the Christian faith

2 Thess. 2:3; 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for ….the falling away comes first,

2 Pet. 3:3 3 scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts,

 1 Tim. 4:1-2; Now the Spirit 1expressly (explicitly) says that in latter times some will depart from the faith,

2 Tim. 3:5; 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power.

4:3-4     For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

7.     Intense demonic activity

            Gen. 6:1-4; 1 Tim. 4:1-3 Now the Spirit 1expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,

8.          Unification of the world’s religious, political, and economic systems

              Unification of the world’s religious systems

            Rev. 13:3-8, And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”

5 And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. 6 Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. 7 It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Unification of the world’s economic systems

16-17; 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

The mark of the beast – national IDs, computer chips under the skin, invisible identification tattoos

Unification of the world’s political systems

17:1-18; 12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.

10 kings and 10 regions – E.U., Russia, China, and now the forming of the North American Union

Rev. 13:7   And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation

18:1-24

9.     The absence of gifted leadership among the nations,

Re 16:13-1413 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world,

10.     Universal drug usage (The word “sorceries” here can also refer to drugs.)

Rev. 9:21 21 And they did not repent of their murders or their 6sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.

11.     Abnormal sexual activity

Rom. 1:26-27 For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful,

 2 Pet. 3:3; knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts,

Rom. 1:31; God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness,

 – homosexuality is being taught as normal and good and right

-- never mind the health hazards, the dysfunction of it, the lack of stability and the lack of faithfulness and commitment, the perversion and immorality of it

12.          Mass slaughter of innocents by unconcerned mothers (abortion)

 Mt 24:12     the love of many will grow cold.

 Rom. 1:28-31; God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things  which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness,  maliciousness;, murder, , evil-mindedness;, violent, , , unloving, , unmerciful;

 2 Tim. 3:3   But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be, …., unholy, 3 unloving, 2unforgiving, , brutal,

The love of many will grow cold – abortion, suicide, murder, rape and molestation of children, and divorce are rampant.

13.          Widespread violence

                       37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be

            Gen. 6:11, 13; 11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

13 And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them;

Rev. 9:21

2 Tim. 4:3-4; For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine,   4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth,

2 Pet. 3:16    untaught and unstable people twist (the Scriptures) to their own destruction,

15.     Rejection of God himself

Ps. 2:1-31     Why do the nations rage,

     And the people plot a vain thing?

2     The kings of the earth set themselves,

     And the rulers take counsel together,

     Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,

3     “Let us break Their bonds in pieces

     And cast away Their cords from us.”

Ro 1:21    although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God,

Prayer, The Ten Commandments, Christmas and God are being band from the public arena

16.     Blasphemy

21.     Rise of false prophets and Antichrists

Matt. 24:5, 11; 2 Pet. 2:1-2

22.     False claims of peace

1 Thess. 5:1-3

23.     Rapid advances in technology

Gen. 4:22

24. Great political and religious upheavals in the Holy Land

[2]

Move with godly fear;

2 Pet. 3:16-18. 17 You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Prepare an ark for the saving of our household;

The Ark is Jesus

Ac 17:31     31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”
