* The Just Shall Live by Faith* 10~/7~/07 a.m.
* Rom.
1:16 *
*Rom.**
1:16 *16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, */“The just shall live by faith.”/
*
* *
*What does it means by; “The just shall live by faith”*
* *
*Our nature is like Peters’*
*Mt.
16:21-27*
21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.
22 Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, *“Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!” *
23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan!
You are 1an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.
26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?
Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
27 For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.
*The Picture;*
The servants of God had finally found and received the promised Messiah and now He is telling them that He must go to Jerusalem, suffer at the hands of its leader and die.
How is Israel going to be saved?
I don’t want you to die.
Why did God promise us a savor of Israel if He is going to suffer at their hands rather than rule with His own hand?
What good is a dead Messiah?
How can He deliver us from the Romans if He is dead?
How is Israel going to be restored to her rightful status if our redeemer is killed by the Jews?
How is the peace of Jerusalem to be restored if our Savor isn’t even able to stay alive?
I’m sure this had to be the along the though line of Peter and the disciples.

*Life doesn’t always go as we expect it to or as we hope it will; *
21 From that time *Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must* go to Jerusalem, and *suffer many things* from the elders and chief priests and scribes, *and be killed*, and be raised the third day.
Sometimes life brings us heartache, pain, suffering, discouragement, disappointment, detours, setbacks, and things we prefer not to experience.
*Our reaction usually is to object – like Peter *
22 Then Peter took Him aside and *began to rebuke Him*, saying, “Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!”
We don’t want these type things in our lives,
They get in our way,
They mess up our plans,
They cost us time, effort, money,
They bring pain, suffering, discouragement, and discomfort
*Our reaction in this manner shows*;
23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan!
You are an offense to Me, for *you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”*
Where our attention is, - /self /
What our focus is on, - /my plans rather than Gods purpose/
Where our thoughts are centered, - /the carnal rather than the spiritual/
The state of mind we are in, - /on the temporal rather than eternal/
Where our concern is, - /on the earthly rather than the heavenly/
* *
*But the Lord said we must live by faith;*
* *
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
To come after Me,
Is to deny myself, /putting Gods’ will before ours/
Take up my cross, /doing what ever it is God wants us to do/
And follow Him.
/Trust and obey Him at all times/
*Or in other words, live by faith*
*Living by faith is to follow (*/Trust and obey) /*the Lord even when it seems to be;*
