                                                   The Lord’s Supper           7/22/07  a.m. outline

1Cor. 11:26   26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death  till He comes.

Mt. 26:26    26   Jesus took bread, and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”

1Cor. 11:23-24   “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you;

The breaking of His body;

Mt. 26:67    67 Then they spat in His face and beat Him; and others struck Him

      Mt. 27:29   29 When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head,

Mt. 27:30  Then  they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head.

Mt. 27:26   and …. he …. scourged Jesus,

Just how bad was His beating, His scourging,?

Isa. 52:14  14      ….  So His  visage was marred more than any man,

                                                And His form more than the sons of men;

Mt. 27:35   35  Then they crucified Him,

Mark 15:27-28    “And He was numbered with the transgressors.”

                         He was condemned with the worst of men by the cruelest punishment

Mark 15:29-32    those who passed by blasphemed Him, mocking, reviled Him.

Mark 15:26   the inscription; THE KING OF THE JEWS.

He was mocked

The blood, the forgiveness of sins, and the new covenant

Mt. 26:27-28  this is My bloodof the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Jn. 19:17-22   He, went to the Place of a Skull, Golgotha, where they crucified Him

            Luke 23:42-43  “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”

           The new covenant is eternal life thru Jesus; He is the only way to heaven

 Mark 15:37   37 And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last.

Jn. 19:30  30 … , He said,  “It is finished!”bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

·        It is finished – paid in full

       Mark 15:25   1 Cor. 5:7    indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.

Mt. 26:27-28   28   this is My blood which is shed .. for the remission of sins.

Heb. 9:22   without shedding of blood there is no remission.(forgiveness)

·        And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit – He gave His life freely

 Jn. 10:18  18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself.

Mark 15:38  the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.

                            The wall of separation was destroyed;

Eph. 2:14-18  He is our peace, has broken down the middle wall of separation,  that He might reconcile them to God, through Him we have access  by one Spirit to the Father.

Mark 15:39   “Truly this Man was the Son of God!”

The centurion said, truly this Man was the Son of God!”

But the centurion wasn’t the only one that proclaimed Jesus as God that day;

Jn. 19:17-22   JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

YHVH – Jehovah , or the unspeakable name of God, YHVH – yod-hay-vav-hay

God marked His Passover lamb for all to see and know.

Jn. 19:32-34  one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and blood and water came out.

Isa. 1:18    “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow;

     Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.
