Seeing this question makes me sad.
Sad because of all of the lives of young ones that are lost and the thoughts of uncertainty of where they go.
Before I give you my thoughts and time on the subject I want you all to discuss with your group.
Is abortion allowed, biblically speaking?
Why would people want to do abortion?
Where do babies go when they die?
For some of you I have spoken on this before, but don’t worry this is a new sermon, and for me it still has the same answer.
First, we have to ask the question what is eternal?
There are only three things and I want you guys to tell me.
What is eternal?
God
His Word
The Souls of Men and Women
There are also only two destinations that people can go.
1 Thessalonians 4:1
There are only two places you can go when you die and I desperately am pleading you all to consider the evidence that Christ was who he says he was so that I can see you in Heaven.
As we talked about a last month, hell is an infinitely horrible place and heaven is and infinitely grand place.
God is doing everything he can and he has placed all you need in front of you to believe and woo you to him.
So before you think of ways you can try and disprove the gospel, the good news, next time something like this comes into your mind I challenge you to examine the evidence for Christianity.
Let’s tackle our first question.
Is abortion allowed?
Abortion
What is abortion?
Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus.
Embryo being an egg in a woman that has been fertilized.
A fetus is just a more developed embryo usually considered a fetus two moths after the egg was fertilized.
Again it is the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus.
Is it okay?
When is it okay?
Let’s look at a couple verses and see what the Bible says.
Genesis
Le
le 2
Ps 139:
All of these passages point to the sanctity of life.
They show that God will not tolerate taking a life.
They show that you were created and made in the image of God.
And destroying that would be the worse than burning a church.
Both the church and you are made to be a monument of worship to God.
Some people say well you can abort the baby in the first little bit.
you know before it has eyes and stuff.
But when we look at as shown talking about Jeremiah’s calling it shows us that God knew him, and us transitively, before he even formed us in the womb.
Shows that we have a purpose which God created for us to do ahead of time so that we can walk in them.
To intentionally kill any fertilized egg is to kill someone that God has given purpose to.
To kill any fertilized egg is to not recognize that God knows us before we are formed in the womb.
Abortion is a selfish and evil act.
It says that there is a person inside of me who is being formed that I am not willing to take care of when they get older so I will kill them.
Abortion says that I don’t want my current way of life to change, I don’t want societies out look on me to change so I am going take the life away from this impregnated egg and live my life comfortably.
Guy’s don’t think this excludes you.
If you ever force your wife or a woman you impregnate out of wedlock to commit abortion because you don’t want the responsibility of being a father then you are scum.
Or if you leave that kid fatherless you are scum.
Additionally, Abortion can be completely avoided if you don’t give into societal pressures and don’t have sex before marriage.
That is a sin.
Abortion is probably the most selfish act I can think about.
Let me walk you through the reason why.
We know that babies are made from sex.
Abortion is saying that I want all of the pleasures of sex without the result that it is naturally intended to produce.
It says I want to have fun but when responsibility comes I am out.
It says that the you are willing to kill someone else so that your life is not inconvenienced in anyway Even though you participated in the act.
But, there is good news for those of you who may have done this.
We are all scum.
But, The Bible says not one of us is beyond redemption.
There is even proof.
Paul, who used to be Saul, used to murder Christians.
He led the stoning of Stephen, but God turned his life around and redeemed him.
Not only that he wrote 2/3 rds of the New Testament.
Nobody is beyond redemption as long as they confess Jesus is Lord and repent of their old ways.
But what happens if the abortion does happen?
What happens if a baby dies unintentionally before being born?
What happens if a baby dies?
We know from my discussion before we started that when you die there is only two places you can go either heaven or Hell.
The only way to get to heaven is never sin, which everyone besides Jesus has, or believe and receive Jesus as your Lord and savior.
But, why do we sin.
If we know it is bad why do we do it.
Sinful Nature
The consistent New Testament emphasis is upon the need for a second birth.
This indicates our natural state is that of sin, not innocence.
That we are by nature children of wrath.
Ephesians 2:1-
Inherited Sin
We also came into the world with Adams sin imputed or inherited to us.
Because of our connection with Adam we are born guilty of His first sin.
Without Sin there is no Death
Romans 3:
Everybody knows that everyone dies physically, well eventually.
We as Christians believe that death is a result of the original sin that was imputed to us and now we live in broken bodies, that eventually lead us to death.
Even people, like infants can die that seemingly had no opportunity to transgress the law of God himself or herself because we are connected with the guild of Adam’s sin.
Predicament
We are all born under sin and salvation is by faith in Christ (which infants do not seem to have the mental capacity to exercise), then it might at first seem that no infant can be saved
Major Views
Some infants are saved, some are not-Westminister Confession of Faith
All infants are saved- Albert Mohler and John Piper
Infants might be saved if not baptized- Catholic Catechism
I could find no major view that believed all infants who die go to hell.
Passages that Make this a Debate
Psalm 22:
John the Baptist was mentioned as filled with the Holy Spirit from the womb…ie he was saved.
Psalm
David seems to believe that he will see his kid in heaven does this apply to all? we must keep in mind that the saving or regeneration of infants does not seem to always be the case.
