They finally end up, several months after they began the journey, down on the southeastern shore of Galilee, having gone west, north and a big loop and down to the bottom of the Sea of Galilee in an area called Decapolis, made up of ten cities, Gentile cities full of idol worship and typical Gentile life.

And this is all to demonstrate the healing purposes of God, the compassion of God and the salvation of God is intended for the world and for Gentiles.
And this is sort of a microcosm lesson on this, which I am confident was reinforced as they moved those hundred and twenty, to a hundred and fifty miles over a period of several months in the presence of the Lord.

The problem he faces (8:1, 9–10): A crowd of 4,000 men has assembled to hear him preach when the food runs out.

Compassion: to suffer with: it conveys feeling of deep sympathy, pity, and kindness toward those who are hurting.
But it is used to express feelings of emotion, affection, sympathy, pity, kindness and compassion.

No matter how empty I am, Jesus feels me
That is a very interesting statement because that is the only place in the four gospels where Jesus ever says that, “I feel compassion,” first person singular.
There are many references to His compassion third person.
It is said by the writer, Mark, in that He felt compassion.
Again in chapter 6 when He saw the hungry multitude, He felt compassion.
In ; ; ; ; it says Jesus felt compassion.
Jesus had compassion.
, He felt compassion on the widow of Nain.
But this is the only place that’s in the first person.

As we come to the eighth chapter and the first ten verses, though it’s a beginning of the chapter, it’s the end of this period.
Actually 8:11 picks up back in Galilee, back in Capernaum again for a final ministry in Galilee before Jesus heads south ultimately to the cross and the resurrection
Blindness
Jesus and the disciples crossed to the western side of the Sea of Galilee where they were met by the Pharisees who were still angry at Him because of His earlier indictment of their hypocrisy
This time they tempted Him to prove His divine authority by giving them a sign from heaven.
They did not want an earthly miracle, such as the healing of a sick person.
They wanted Him to do something spectacular, like bring fire from heaven or bread from heaven ().
This would prove He was indeed sent from God.
To get Him to prove the source of His authority
In the Old Testament a “sign” was not so much a demonstration of power as an evidence that an utterance or action was authentic and trustworthy (cf.
TDNT, s.v.
“sēmeion,” 7:210–6, 234–6).
The Pharisees did not demand a spectacular miracle, but that Jesus give unmistakable proof that He and His mission were authorized by God.
They believed quite the opposite (cf.
3:22).

Some astonishing truth
Spiritual blindness is when I’m seeking for God to do something else, when I haven't received what He’s already done.
In = He sighed in response to the deaf man
Here he sighed in response to the willful blindness that broke His heart.
*This is a Stinging Rebuke to those who refused to receive the truth of the Word.
By this time in Mark’s gospel, by the time we come to this point, it’s been over two years that Jesus has been ministering openly, publicly and doing miracles that are literally unable to be counted.
The small Corruption can effect the whole body
Yeast in this passage symbolizes evil.
Just as only a small amount of yeast is needed to make a batch of bread rise, so the hard-heartedness of the religious and political leaders could permeate and contaminate the entire society and make it rise up against Jesus.
The Bible uses leaven as a picture of false doctrine (), unjudged sin in the church (), and hypocrisy ().
In this context, Jesus warned them about the teaching (false doctrine) of the Pharisees and the followers of Herod.
