Matthew 7:24–29 NASB95
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 “And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. 26 “Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 “The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.” 28 When Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were amazed at His teaching; 29 for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.
Deuteronomy 31:8 NASB95
8 “The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

YOU MUST HAVE A FOUNDATION IN YOUR LIFE

Ephesians 2:20 NASB95
20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone,

A very short man wanted to drive a nail in his wall to hang a picture. He stood on a chair, but it was not high enough. His wife placed a box on the chair, but he was still short of his goal. So a stool was piled on top of the box. Balancing himself precariously, the do-it-yourself picture hanger began to tap timidly with his hammer. “Why don’t you hit it hard?” asked the wife. “You’ll never drive the nail that way!”

Our hero looked down from his perch to reply, “How can a man hit anything hard on a shaky foundation like this?”528

Foundation, Importance of

If you have ever lived in or visited a large city, you probably have had the chance to watch a skyscraper under construction. For the first six months or so of the project, all the workmen do is make a great hole in the ground. To build a tall building by starting far below the surface level seems absurd, even crazy. But, as you would suspect, there is a good reason for the large hole. To build a mammoth building, it is first necessary to dig down until a strong foundation can be built, one that is capable of supporting the skyscraper.

A doghouse needs no foundation, and an ordinary house can be built on little more than a concrete slab. But a skyscraper, that’s different. It requires a deep and solid foundation.

So it is in our Christian life. Our upward potential is totally dependent on the foundation underneath it.527

You cannot live your life without a foundation. A foundation consisting of non-negotiable values.

REPRESENTS THE TEST OF PROSPERITY

Malachi 3:10 NKJV
10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.

> NOT EVERYBODY CAN HANDLE PROSPERITY
> MILLIONAIRE MONDAY
A. FREEDOM
i) COMES WITH MORE OPTIONS
ii) COMES WITH RESPONSIBILITY
> MOST CHRISTIANS FAIL THIS TEST
A. WE CAN WITHSTAND HARDSHIP AND ADVERSITY, BUT WE CANNOT PASS THE WEALTH TEST.

THE FLOOD

REPRESENTS DEMONIC POWERS

“When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him”
Isaiah 59:19b
Isaiah 59:19 NASB95
19 So they will fear the name of the Lord from the west And His glory from the rising of the sun, For He will come like a rushing stream Which the wind of the Lord drives.
Isa
> PAUL EMPHASIZE THAT WE PUT ON THE WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD SO WE ARE ABLE TO STAND AGAINST THE TRICKERY OF THE DEVIL.

THE WIND

REPRESENTS THE DOCTRINES OF MEN

“...... No longer tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine.”
Ephesians 4:14
> THE WORLD HAVE SYSTEMS IN PLACE TO TEAR DOWN THE DOCTRINE OF CHRIST

HOW TO FACE THE FUTURE

WITH CONFIDENCE

Philippians 1:6 NASB95
6 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
“And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed” ().
“Being confident … that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” ().
Psalm 37:3 NASB95
3 Trust in the Lord and do good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.
B. The believer can place his confidence in God and depend on Him. God is the One who never fails ().

WITH COMMITMENT

Psalm 37:5 NASB95
5 Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He will do it.
II. With Commitment
> COMMIT: TRUST GOD WITH YOUR LIFE ENTIRELY, YOUR WAY OF LIVING
> YOU DON’T WALK ON YOU FLOOR IN YOU HOUSE AND WONDER IF IT WILL HOLD YOU UP!!!!
“Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass” ().
> TRUST: HAVE FAITH IN HIM
Psalm 37:5 NKJV
5 Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.
PS
Romans 12:1 NASB95
1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
A. Many try to cope with life’s challenges in their own strength and fail. Human power is finite.
B. We must surrender our wills to God and be totally yielded to His will. We can depend on His infinite wisdom. He gives His power to those who are totally committed to Him ().

WITH CHEERFULNESS

PS
Psalm 37:4 NASB95
4 Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart.
“Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart” ().
A. Many Christians think negatively. They dwell on the gloomy side of life.
B. We must think positively, looking for the good around us. We will be able to win others to Christ as we exemplify His love and joy ().

WITH COURAGE

Philippians 1:20 NASB95
20 according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will not be put to shame in anything, but that with all boldness, Christ will even now, as always, be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.
“… with all boldness … Christ shall be magnified in my body …” ().
A. The apostle Paul faced life courageously. He was able to cope with adversity through the power of Christ.
B. We too must face the future with courage. Christ will go with us and before us as we work and witness for Him ().[1]

> CRITICAL PEOPLE DON’T GIVE CONSTRUCTIVE CRITISM

SARCASTIC PEOPLE

> SARCASM IS AN IMITATION OF REAL HUMOR THAT IS CUTTING AND DEROGATORY
> SARCASM IS SIMPLY ANOTHER FORM OF CRITICISM, DISGUISED AS A JOKE

PESSIMISTIC PEOPLE

> GOD WILL COME THROUGH FOR YOU BUT I KNOW PEOPLE GOD HASN’T COME THROUGH FOR AS YET

Galatians 6 NASB95
1 Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted. 2 Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ. 3 For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4 But each one must examine his own work, and then he will have reason for boasting in regard to himself alone, and not in regard to another. 5 For each one will bear his own load. 6 The one who is taught the word is to share all good things with the one who teaches him. 7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9 Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. 10 So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith. 11 See with what large letters I am writing to you with my own hand. 12 Those who desire to make a good showing in the flesh try to compel you to be circumcised, simply so that they will not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. 13 For those who are circumcised do not even keep the Law themselves, but they desire to have you circumcised so that they may boast in your flesh. 14 But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. 15 For neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. 16 And those who will walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God. 17 From now on let no one cause trouble for me, for I bear on my body the brand-marks of Jesus. 18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brethren. Amen.

Proverbs 12:15 NASB95
15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But a wise man is he who listens to counsel.
1 Timothy 5:1–2 NASB95
1 Do not sharply rebuke an older man, but rather appeal to him as a father, to the younger men as brothers, 2 the older women as mothers, and the younger women as sisters, in all purity.

MEANS TO HAVE SOMEONE IN YOUR LIFE WHO BENEFIT FROM YOUR BLESSINGS
BLESSINGS OF GOD IS NOT SO YOU CAN GET A BIGGER CUP
BUT FOR YOUR CUP TO RUN OVER SO IT CAN FILL SOMEONE ELSE CUP

CELEBRATOR

A. Many Christians think negatively. They dwell on the gloomy side of life.
> SOMEONE WHO REFUSES TO LET YOU STAY DEPRESSED
B. We must think positively, looking for the good around us. We will be able to win others to Christ as we exemplify His love and joy ()
> SOMEONE WHO IS NOT OBLIVIOUS TO THE GOODNESS OF GOD
> SOMEONE WHO GIVES GOD GLORY ALL THE TIME
> COME LETS MAGNIFY THE LORD TOGETHER
