Why no Faith?

Obedience v22

Peter’s lack of faith caused him to lack in success (v31)

faithfulness v31

Peters fear caused him to lose his faith and his focus (v30)

Our fear (or lack there of) will make or break our focus

In the storm our eyes and mind have to be focused on Jesus not on the what ifs

Peter was in fear of what if I don’t make it across. What if something goes wrong.

relating back to what happens today we many times believe we cant do something when the truth is we cant do it cause we aren't completely focused on the one who can

We cant do it!

As followers of Jesus we are expected to believe he can do whatever we will never be able to.

Peter could never walk on water without the help of the one who can. That’s why when his focus on Jesus left so did his ability.

I think of it as a mechanic trying to teach someone to work on cars. If he sits there and pays attention to the guy that has done it for years he will learn. However when he decides he can do it alone without help he turns the key and the car wont start.

The one major difference is we can never do it without the help of Jesus.

Peter can never walk on water without Jesus its impossible

sometimes we want to pray for Jesus to work miracles through us but we don’t want to focus on the teacher

We expect him just to use us without us focusing on him

Why do we fear the wind when the Master of the wind is on our side?

I want to really focus on what Peter got scared of.

(v30) the wind

He was walking on water a impossible feat and the wind is what scared him.

once the devil gets in our head and gets us scared and takes our focus away from Jesus we immediately lose our sucess
