Last week’s message notwithstanding, we’ve been looking at the story of Joseph for the past couple of months which is at the end of the Book of Genesis, and it occurs before Moses, before the Ten Commandments, before King David, and it’s just a couple of generations past Abraham, who originally received a promise from God that he would be the beginning of the nation of Israel, and of course Jesus is born out of that nation and out of that promise. And Joseph is the great-grandson of Abraham. The story of Joseph is one of the great stories of Bible just for the simple fact that it’s a really intriguing story. There is a lot of drama, there is a lot of ups and downs and unexpected turns of events, and ultimately it has a happy ending, and that’s pretty much how we like our stories. And so its easy for us to follow along with it, which is not always the case when we’re reading the Bible.
