JESUS THE I AM
The Jews answered him, “Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?” Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me. Yet I do not seek my own glory; there is One who seeks it, and he is the judge. Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death.” The Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon! Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet you say, ‘If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death.’ Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? And the prophets died! Who do you make yourself out to be?” Jesus answered, “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God.’ But you have not known him. I know him. If I were to say that I do not know him, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and I keep his word. Your father Abraham rejoiced that he would see my day. He saw it and was glad.” So the Jews said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?” Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.” So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.

The Jews most likely believe Jesus has attacked them first by saying that they were children of Satan literally the devil
The devil is the accuser of the believers
Big Idea
The true children of God rejoice at the truth of Christ and the revealing of his righteousness, because their is a recognition that Jesus is the I AM, our God manifested in the Flesh
Chapter 8 brings us into focus the following
Jesus forgives sin to those who repent (Woman caught in adultery)
Jesus is the Light of the World
He is sinless
He is the Truth & those who believe will be free from the death that results from sin
He is the son of God
The consistent disrespect from the Jews
The Jews inability to embrace Gods truth ( Children of the Devil)
Failure to see Jesus as the true Savior of the World, the son of God, God manifested in the Flesh
The conversation between Jesus and the Jews quickly escalates to an ad hominem
The Jews most likely believe Jesus has attacked them first by saying that they were children of Satan literally the devil

Abraham was happy to see the hope of the savior, to see his God
Lastly Jesus reveals that he is the I AM
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
Our desire to please God through Jesus has to be greater than our desire for personal glory and recognition through the following

Relationship Affiliation
Religious connections
Big Idea
