Dance Party
Everyone stand up, now i want you to do you favorite Fortnight dance.
You might be wondering what this has to do with the bible?
We’ll get to that.
Today we are going to try to answer one very important question.
Does God still do miracles?
So what do you think?
We are back with the Apostle Peter.
At this point Peter is going to different cities to to spend time with the Christians there but also to bring more people to Christ.
This is our first miracle.
(Acts 9:32-35) 32 Meanwhile, Peter traveled from place to place, and he came down to visit the believers in the town of Lydda.
33 There he met a man named Aeneas, who had been paralyzed and bedridden for eight years.
34 Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you!
Get up, and roll up your sleeping mat!”
And he was healed instantly.
35 Then the whole population of Lydda and Sharon saw Aeneas walking around, and they turned to the Lord.
This man Aeneas was paralyzed, he couldn’t walk for eight years that is almost 3000 days he was able do very much without help, but God had a purpose for this man’s paralysis.
I want to make this clear God did not make Aeneas not be able to walk, we live in a broken world where bad things happen.
But even when bad things happen to people God can use that.
Notice the last words of that passage, and they turned to the Lord.
God healed this man and people turned to him.
That is a miracle.
Do you think people wanted to know how Peter did this?
Healing a paralyzed man is amazing, at least i think so, but then this happened.
(Acts 9:36-38) 36 There was a believer in Joppa named Tabitha (which in Greek is Dorcas).
She was always doing kind things for others and helping the poor.
37 About this time she became ill and died.
Her body was washed for burial and laid in an upstairs room.
38 But the believers had heard that Peter was nearby at Lydda, so they sent two men to beg him, “Please come as soon as possible!”
Oh my no we have a woman who has died.
Do you think God can do something about that?
Can God use this?
Lets see.
(Acts 9:39-41) 39 So Peter returned with them; and as soon as he arrived, they took him to the upstairs room.
The room was filled with widows who were weeping and showing him the coats and other clothes Dorcas had made for them.
40 But Peter asked them all to leave the room; then he knelt and prayed.
Turning to the body he said, “Get up, Tabitha.”
And she opened her eyes!
When she saw Peter, she sat up! 41 He gave her his hand and helped her up.
Then he called in the widows and all the believers, and he presented her to them alive.
Yea God healed brought her back from the dead.
That is amazing, but just as amazing is what happened because of this.
(Acts 9:42-43) 42 The news spread through the whole town, and many believed in the Lord.
43 And Peter stayed a long time in Joppa, living with Simon, a tanner of hides.
many believed in the Lord.
Another miracles.
Over the past few weeks we’ve seen some pretty amazing miracles.
Miracles are seen all through the bible.
But that doesn’t answer the question, do miracles still happen?
The short answer is yes they do.
I read a few stories of people being healed, and doctors just can’t explain it.
A woman’s back pain completely gone, a man healed form stage 4 cancer which rarely happens and others.
Miracles happen in other ways too, we did an exercise at the beginning of the lesson.
Well did you know that in it self was a miracle.
Think about it.
