There are a number of words in the Bible that are used effectively and consistently as metaphors. One of these is "light". From Genesis to Revelation, we read of "light" being used to represent God as truth, righteousness, holiness, for it is the antithesis of "darkness". In Numbers 8, we find "light" in the Holy Place of the Tabernacle, for God directs Aaron about how the lamps are to be placed there. Throughout Scripture, we see God bringing light to his people, and calling them to shine that light into the world. So we must ask the question of ourselves: how strongly is our light shining? What needs to to happen to make our lives reflect Jesus by even one watt more?
