Introduction.
People love Christmas. Christmas brings feelings of expectation, happiness, and joy. There is a sense of nostalgia as people remember holiday day traditions.
The irony of Christmas is that happiness and joy don’t necessarily come from God.
Even for Christians, they know that Christmas is about Jesus, but what our hearts are really saying is can we get on with the food and the presents.
Amazon and Target release gift guide books where you can place stickers on the toys you want.
Black Friday is when we buy Christmas gifts.
The season of giving, family, and friendship ironically squeeze out the Christ of Christmas.
The Gospel of Santa says, “Be Good and Be Rewarded.” The gospel of Christ is “Repent and Believe.”
Christmas is about God being mindful of our need. Mindful of our condition. And mindful of our relational deficiency.
Christmas is about God coming to us.
Christmas is about God giving himself to us.
Christmas is about receiving what God has done for us.
Familiarity with Christmas breeds contempt. Let that not be us! Let us with reverence see our God has come!!!!
