Thankful Always

(NLT) — 18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

KEY POINT- It is easy to be thankful about some things, its much harder to be thankful about all things.

POINT- It is God’s will for us to be thankful.

DEFINE- This word will comes from the greek word thelema which means desire, purpose, or expectation.

QUESTION- How is it God can expect us to be thankful in all situations?

MAIN POINT- God’s character defines my life.

God can expect me to be thankful because I expect some things from God, based off his character revealed through his word.

I can expect…

1. God is working for my good.

(NLT) — 28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

2. God will keep his promises.

(NLT) — 19 And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

3. God’s power to be seen in my weakness.

(NLT) — 8 We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. 9 In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead.
