1 So the heavens and the earth and everything in them were completed. 2 By the seventh day God completed His work that He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work that He had done. 3 God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, for on it He rested from His work of creation.
1. These scriptures seem to be out of place, because it talks about the 7th day, but these scriptures begin to show why the 7th day should be sacred.
2. Next the Lord did not need to rest, but He was modeling for us to take a day of rest that Glorifies Him.
3. In this passage today the hope is that we understand when, how, and why we should worship our Lord
4. The Lord our God is not merely suggesting that we rest on the 7th day, but that we should do so

Man and Woman in the Garden
When?
To have integrity in oneselft
To glorify Him
To glorify Him
To be to Him
5. The when of this worship is to have a day of rest in our lives that we will not give up no matter what.
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
To Him.
To Him.
5. The when of this worship is to have a day of rest in our lives that we will not give up no matter what.
6. What does that mean. Plain and simple which ever day you decide to make your seventh day that should be your day of rest.
7. That means that if your day of worship is Monday then do everything in your power to worship, honor and obey the Lord.
8. Before we decide to discontinue worshiping the Lord amongst friends and family we must understand why we were formed.
4 These are the records of the heavens and the earth, concerning their creation at the time that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens. 5 No shrub of the field had yet grown on the land, and no plant of the field had yet sprouted, for the Lord God had not made it rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground. 6 But water would come out of the ground and water the entire surface of the land. 7 Then the Lord God formed the man out of the dust from the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being.

1. Why?
God formed man to worship him not the world.
These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
:
2. It is possible that is why the Lord formed everything before He formed man.

3. I have read that some religions use the first two chapters of Genesis to show why a women should submit to a man, because man was formed before women.
4. Let me ask you this then should we not be submitting to the birds, sheep, cattle, and fish of the sea.
5. They were formed before us as humans in creation. I say no look at
28 God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and every creature that crawls on the earth.”
6. Does that sound like a women should be submissive and be just a yes person in a relationship?
7. No, look and v. 24.
24 This is why a man leaves his father and mother and bonds with his wife, and they become one flesh.
8. If man and woman are one flesh then it is a mutual partnership in serving the Lord.
9. Now before we go saying that we do not have to come to the Lord's house to worship look with me at:
8 The Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there He placed the man He had formed. 9 The Lord God caused to grow out of the ground every tree pleasing in appearance and good for food, including the tree of life in the middle of the garden, as well as the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. 10 A river went out from Eden to water the garden. From there it divided and became the source of four rivers. 11 The name of the first is Pishon, which flows through the entire land of Havilah, where there is gold. 12 Gold from that land is pure; bdellium and onyx are also there. 13 The name of the second river is Gihon, which flows through the entire land of Cush. 14 The name of the third river is the Tigris, which runs east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates. 15 The Lord God took the man and placed him in the garden of Eden to work it and watch over it.

1. God created His place of worship in this verse and He put man there to worship Him.
2. God then describes the beauty of His house that He has built for man.
3. Why?
God desires us to keep His house sacred.
4. Why do we worship God is a desire to be in His house, in His company, in His love.

16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree of the garden, 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for on the day you eat from it, you will certainly die.”
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree of the garden, 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for on the day you eat from it, you will certainly die.” 18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper as his complement.” 19 So the Lord God formed out of the ground every wild animal and every bird of the sky, and brought each to the man to see what he would call it. And whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name. 20 The man gave names to all the livestock, to the birds of the sky, and to every wild animal; but for the man no helper was found as his complement. 21 So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to come over the man, and he slept. God took one of his ribs and closed the flesh at that place. 22 Then the Lord God made the rib He had taken from the man into a woman and brought her to the man. 23 And the man said:
1. During these days the Lord was present and in fellowship with man.
2. Why? Because we were pure and innocent v. 25
25 Both the man and his wife were naked, yet felt no shame.
3. God was visible to us, walked with us, and talked with us.
4. Man that must have been awesome to be in God's presence.
5. But He set a law for us to obey, in order to honor and glorify Him v.17

1. Every creature that God made had both male and female.
2. I wonder if Adam even noticed that he was by himself or did he so enjoy the fellowship with the Lord that he never complained about the work the Lord set before him.
3. If this is so then here is an example of how deeply we should want to do the Lord's work.
Adam show that we are to have integrity in oneself.
To have in oneself.
4. This is the second part of our how to worship God, to be in fellowship not just with Him but with others.
5. Our reason of how to worship God is found in v.23

23 And the man said:
23 And the man said:
This one, at last, is bone of my bone
and flesh of my flesh;
this one will be called “woman,”
for she was taken from man.
1. The man sets another example of how to worship through song.
2. I would have loved to have been there when the man Praised the Lord for giving him a companion.
4. The third part part of our how to worship God, is to lift up praises for all that he has done for us.
3. Finally, the reason we Worship God, because He commands it.
3. Finally, the reason we Worship God, because He commands it.
24 This is why a man leaves his father and mother and bonds with his wife, and they become one flesh. 25 Both the man and his wife were naked, yet felt no shame.
1. If we look at these two verses we see an even deeper reason
2. But if we look at these two verses we see an even deeper reason
a. As a man bonds with a woman is the same as bonding with a belief in Jesus
b. In order to become one with Jesus we must admit that He is our Lord and savior.
c. Through this process we can become naked and feel now shame because all of our sins are forgiven.
d. Do you need to become one with the Lord or surrender yourself to the Lord, today He challenges you to come forward and surrender to His love, to be in His fellowship, to do His work, and to obey His commands. In this way you honor and glorify the Lord.
