WHY WE SHOULD BE THANKFUL
WHY WE SHOULD BE THANKFUL
Story: Martha had a parrot called Brutus, the only problem was Brutus cussed something awful.
Now Martha was having her In-Laws over for Thanksgiving Dinner, and she needed to train Brutus quickly not to swear.
Just before her mother-in-law was due. Brutus started to cuss terribly, so Martha put Brutus in the freezer for two minutes to literally cool him off. then she opened the door and took out the parrot along with the turkey.
Martha asked the parrot, “Have you learned your lesson about cussing?”
Brutus the parrot took one look at the dead turkey and said, “I sure have, but I have one question, What did the turkey do?”
This is just a little thanksgiving humor!
4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, And into his courts with praise: Be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; And his truth endureth to all generations.
We all should be thankful, because the Lord is good, and His mercy is everlasting.
I title this sermon “Why We Should Be Thankful”, but it’s hard to tell you why you should be thankful, without telling you why I am thankful

We are to give thanks to the Lord, in everything.
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
1 Thessalonians 5:
7. It’s hard to be thankful without Jesus Christ
It’s like a parent trying to get there children home for thanksgiving and the children are just to busy.
Story: A man in Chicago calls his son in New York the day before Thanksgiving and says, “I hate to ruin your day, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are divorcing: forty-five years of misery is enough.”
“Pop, what are you talking about?” The son screams. “We can’t stand the sight of each other any longer,” the father says, “Were sick of each other, and I’m tried of talking about this, so you call your sister in Dallas and tell her.”
Frantic, the son calls his sister, who explodes on the phone. “Like they’re getting divorced.” She shouts, “I’ll take care of this.”
She call Chicago and immediately starts to scream at her father, “Your not getting a divorce. Don’t do a single thing until I get there. I’m calling my brother back and we’ll both be there tomorrow until then, don’t do anything. “Do you here me?” Do you here me?” and she hangs up.
The old man hangs up the phone and turns to his wife. “Okay” he says, “ they’re both coming home for thanksgiving and they are paying their own way.”
8. Don’t you think Jesus feels like those parents who couldn’t get there children to come home.
He pleads with you and pleads with you to come home.
And you turn Him down.
Your to busy
You have something else to do
Somewhere else to go
It’s just not the best time
You keep turning Him down.
Until something bad happens
Something Drastic happens
Time is getting short
I’ve been saved for 36 years
It hasn’t been a bed of roses
When I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal savior, He never promised me life would be great and easy.
A Born Again Christian’s Life is HARD,
Your always under spiritual attacks,
People making fun of you.
People cussing you.
I’m so, thankful that Jesus took me as I am. (A)
