What does it mean to be successful? What does success look like in the world?

It was Bohemian Rhapsody; it is a movie about the story of Queen. Who here has heard of the band Queen? I grew up listening to that band even though they were old then… but one of the things that struck me about that movie is the lead singer of the band, Freddie Mercury was incredibly talented. Like I mean super talented.

So often we celebrate the best of the best. We celebrate those people who excel at the things that they do. We celebrate the people who absolutely smash at things! Our culture is set up to be a culture of competition, where it is about doing better than other people, or beating other people.

We have this view that the people who are successful are the ones who are so incredibly smart or rich or powerful. The ones who seem to have everything together. People look at things and they say that unless you are able to get A’s in school, you aren’t that great at school. Unless you are able to win and be the best, you aren’t any good at it.
