In the Prayer Room
Come In the Prayer Room - Matthew 6:5-14
2 Corinthians 10:4 - 5 dFor the weapons eof our warfare are not 1carnal but fmighty in God gfor pulling down strongholds, 5 hcasting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,[1]
When we prepare for war we prepare during peace time. Any solider who enlists in the military has to go through basic training so that they are prepared on how to fight in any type of situations. They train when it is hot, train when it is cold, they train on sunny days as well as rainy days. Why. Because you never know when and what type of climate and environment you will find yourself in when you need to fight.
The enemy like surprise attacks. Things can be going well and then all of something things just seems to come up out of no where. We didn’t expect it; you didn’t recognize it, and all you know is that now trouble has come my way.
Easton’s Bible Dictionary states that Prayer is:
Prayer — is converse with God; the intercourse of the soul with God, not in contemplation or meditation, but in direct address to him. Prayer may be oral or mental, occasional or constant, ejaculatory or formal. It is a “beseeching the Lord” (Ex. 32:11); “pouring out the soul before the Lord” (1 Sam. 1:15); “praying and crying to heaven” (2 Chr. 32:20); “seeking unto God and making supplication” (Job 8:5); “drawing near to God” (Ps. 73:28); “bowing the knees” (Eph. 3:14).
Prayer presupposes a belief in the personality of God, his ability and willingness to hold intercourse with us, his personal control of all things and of all his creatures and all their actions.
Acceptable prayer must be sincere (Heb. 10:22), offered with reverence and godly fear, with a humble sense of our own insignificance as creatures and of our own unworthiness as sinners, with earnest importunity, and with unhesitating submission to the divine will. Prayer must also be offered in the faith that God is, and is the hearer and answerer of prayer, and that he will fulfill his word, “Ask, and ye shall receive” (Matt. 7:7, 8; 21:22; Mark 11:24; John 14:13, 14), and in the name of Christ (16:23, 24; 15:16; Eph. 2:18; 5:20; Col. 3:17; 1 Pet. 2:5).
Prayer is of different kinds, secret (Matt. 6:6); social, as family prayers, and in social worship; and public, in the service of the sanctuary.
Intercourse to have a connection with. God knows me so well that he knows what I need before I even ask. He knows what to do and how to do it.
Beseech means to beg urgently
Matthew 21:21-22
Verily I say unto you, if ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. 22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. [2]
The issue is not whether God can do something for me, the issue is can I believe that God will do what I asked. Because there is nothing too hard for God. Tell somebody, There Is nothing too hard for God.
E.M. Bounds “ The Necessity of Prayer,” asks these question:
Is faith growing or declining as the years go by? Does faith stand strong and four square, these days, as iniquity abounds and the love of many grows cold? Does faith maintain its hold, as religion tends to become a mere formality and worldliness increasingly prevails? The enquiry of our Lord, may, with great appropriateness, be ours. “When the Son of Man cometh,” He asks, “shall He find faith on the earth?[3]
The battle is in your mind. It is not the situation that is outside of me that I need to get a handle on, it is what is going on in my mind. There is where the enemy puts his most powerful attack. Because if I can get my mind out, the rest of me has to follow.
I don’t get worried about people who talk about me and say that I can’t do anything without them. Only Jesus said I can no nothing without Him. So unless you are Jesus, I can do with you.
- People want to walk off, let them go. If you really needed them then God would have let them stay
- Lost a job, God gave you another one, lost a husband or a wife, God can still bless you with another one. If God doesn’t give you one you can still make it
- You didn’t think you would make it through the lost of a loved one, but you are still here. God won’t let you down.
- Stop chasing after people who think its all about them and don’t mean you any good anyway
- I can do al things through Christ who strengthens me
Hebrews 11:6 – But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
You have to know that God is on your side and because in a fight right now don’t turn in your weapon. I refused to be the devil’s prisoner of war.
I’ve come too far and to close to my destiny to turn around now. I am going on to win this battle and I am going to do in Prayer.
Philippians 4:6
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
There are some things that I got to talk to God about. I been talking to too many people and you have been talking to the wrong folk. Take it to Jesus.
But if you can find somebody to get a prayer through, if you really need some help the bible says
James 5:16
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much
The old saints would call you up and see how you were doing. If you did wrong they wouldn’t let you stay wrong. They would come to your house and pray with you and stay all night if they had to make sure that you were on the right track with God. And they kept your business in secret.
Effectual is Prayer that makes an impact that has influence, operates, brings results and brings change
People are praying but they don’t have any effect, they praying and they don’t believe.
Fervent means very hot, passionate, with great intensity
Righteous – Living right before God
Availeth means to your benefit, to your advantage. It going to help me to win.
Now to the text.
Don’t be like the hypocrites. Using fancy words. They have their reward. They have been seen by me. When you pray, pray to the father that is in secret and he shall reward you openly.
Pray until something happens.
When you go into your prayer room, it’s just you and God. I have nobody to impress, I have nobody to worry about because my focus is on God.
Pray until something happens.
- Pray until your wondering child comes back home.
- Pray until your sons and daughters get save.
- Pray until the divorce doesn’t go through.
- Pray until the Judge says case dismissed
- Pray until the church gets back on fire.
- Pray until Preachers preach the word with fire and not just to get paid.
- Pray until the choir sings with the anointing and the power falls down from heaven
- Pray until demonic forces flee from your presence
- Pray until the pain leaves your pain
- Pray until you can’t pray any more and let the spirit of God make intercession for you with moans and groaning that only God understands.
- Pray until financial problems are gone and every bill is paid
- Pray until you feel the power of God moving on down in the inside
- Pray until the tears of sorrow become tears of Joy
- Pray until Jesus becomes your doctor, the bible becomes your prescription and God gives you all of you medicine in the Prayer Room
This battle you in may only be a test of your faith. Hold on to God, trust in God and believe that he will see you trough.
There will some battles that you cannot go over, go under or go around. This battle you will have to go through it until God gives you the victory
When you get through, there will no doubt in your mind who gets all of the glory. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
