What does it mean for Jesus to be the Messiah, the promised Saviour King? Throughout the gospel of John Jesus uses a number of metaphors describe his character and mission. This Sunday evening we’ll explore one of those metaphors as we look at what it means for Jesus to be our Good Shepherd. In John 10 Jesus describes himself as the good shepherd, an image that picks up on God’s description of himself in the Old Testament and speaks of how Jesus has come to gather God’s people into salvation, to care for them and to watch over them in such a way that nothing will ever snatch them out of his hand.
