Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good,

for his steadfast love endures forever.

2  Give thanks to the God of gods,

for his steadfast love endures forever.

3  Give thanks to the Lord of lords,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

4  to him who alone does great wonders,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

5  to him who by understanding made the heavens,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

6  to him who spread out the earth above the waters,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

7  to him who made the great lights,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

8  the sun to rule over the day,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

9  the moon and stars to rule over the night,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

It is he who remembered us in our low estate,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

24  and rescued us from our foes,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

25  he who gives food to all flesh,

for his steadfast love endures forever.

26  Give thanks to the God of heaven,

for his steadfast love endures forever.

It is he who remembered us in our low estate,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

24  and rescued us from our foes,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

25  he who gives food to all flesh,

for his steadfast love endures forever.

26  Give thanks to the God of heaven,

for his steadfast love endures forever.

Have you ever struggled with ungratefulness?
We’ve talked about a lot of ways to be ungratefulness
Today, we’re going to talk about a lot of things that this passage specifically tells us to be grateful for!

Be grateful for God’s character

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good,

for his steadfast love endures forever.

Man is not good.
Only God is good
Have you ever known someone who was not so good? They were rough to be around.
God is a good friend and he models a perfect friend for us
God shows us that we should always think of others (Love God, Love others)
God willingly forgives when we ask. He doesn’t hold grudges
God wants to help us when we stumble into sin to get out
God is patient with us. Patience is hard
God shows us that good character makes you stick closer than a brother
God wants us to be grateful for His unchanging character

Be grateful for God’s person

Give thanks to the God of gods,

for his steadfast love endures forever.

3  Give thanks to the Lord of lords,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

God is the God of god’s and Lord of lords
He is over everyone and everything
We need to trust the person of God
He is a great leader
Beverly hills ninja when Chris farley leads chris rock blindfolded
God doesn’t lead us blindfolded. We don’t respond blindly. We trust God because He has proven Himself trustworthy

Be grateful that God is all powerful

to him who alone does great wonders,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

5  to him who by understanding made the heavens,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

6  to him who spread out the earth above the waters,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

7  to him who made the great lights,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

8  the sun to rule over the day,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

9  the moon and stars to rule over the night,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

God can do incredible things
If God can make the world and He understands the heavens, he can help you
He can help you with different trials in your life
He can help you get out of your sin
He can help you develop righteousness
He can help you fight sin
He can help you overcome temptation
He can help your friends/relatives see their need for salvation
He can do anything!
If God can do anything, why don’t we allow him to do anything?
So many times we try to do things ourselves when it God wants to do it for us
I remember trying to write a 20 page paper by myself and missing a lot on it because i didn’t allow people to help me.
Be grateful to God because He is so powerful

Be grateful to God because of His Redemption

It is he who remembered us in our low estate,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

24  and rescued us from our foes,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

25  he who gives food to all flesh,

for his steadfast love endures forever.

God knew we were sinners before time began
He knew we needed help
He remembered us in our low estate
Even when we were dead in our trespasses and sins He saved us
After seeing all of this, what’s next?

Our response towards Him

Give thanks to the God of heaven,

for his steadfast love endures forever.

We should give thanks
How do we show thanks to people?
By obeying them
By loving them
By serving them
By trusting them
By doing things for them
It’s the same for God

Conclusion

right now, have you experienced that God’s steadfast lvoe endures forever
Are you not trusting that it endures forever
are you not grateful for God’s character—that he always does right
Are you not grateful for God’s person—that He never changes and He always leads us in the right way
Are you not grateful for God’s power—that He is in complete control of whatever is happening to you…you just need to hand him the reigns
Are you not grateful for God’s redemption (maybe youre living in sin because of this) —Maybe you haven’t received it?
We need to give thanks to God for all He’s done, is doing, and will do for us!
His steadfast love never ends!
