We tend to criticize and keep our distance from THAT which we don’t understand. And yet, there are truths that Jesus spoke about His church that, though often misunderstood, have the power and potential to change our lives and the life of others forever. Jesus birthed and is building the church to live and teach His truths that are the hope to the world. We’ve been created and called to be THAT church. Jesus said, I’m building a church and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it – WE ARE THAT CHURCH! This 4-week series will focus on where we as a church are going and what the Bible states about why we are here. Series begins Sunday, November 4.

18 Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world.
Acts 20:24 NIV
24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.
Acts 1:8 NLT
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
4 MAJOR SHIFTS IN OUR THINKING
We must shift our thinking from . . .
Self - centered to God - centered
Mark 8:33 NLT
33 Jesus turned around and looked at his disciples, then reprimanded Peter. “Get away from me, Satan!” he said. “You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s.”
Mark
Matthew 20:26–28 NLT
26 But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. 28 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Matthew 28:18–20 NLT
18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
2. Local to global
3. Earthly to enternal
Matthew 6:19–21 NLT
19 “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. 21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

Luke 16:9 NLT
9 Here’s the lesson: Use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends. Then, when your possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home.
Matthew
4. Safety to suffering
Mark 8:35 NLT
35 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it.
Mark
Mark 10:29–30 NLT
29 “Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News, 30 will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property—along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life.
Mark
