But its oer now and we are getting ready for the next holiday. More importantly, I bleieve we are stepping into somehting here at LWF that is greater than anything you have seen or been a part of before.
We have been looking at the life a guy by the name of Elisha.
We talked at the beginnning about burning the plow and killing the cow. Because Elisha gave it all.
Then the second week I talked aobut giving greater.
He lived a life Greater. So much of greatness and why people don’t acheive it is beause people don’t know how to define it. This is what we are talking about today.
2 Kings 2:19–22 NKJV
Then the men of the city said to Elisha, “Please notice, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the ground barren.” And he said, “Bring me a new bowl, and put salt in it.” So they brought it to him. Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.’ ” So the water remains healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.
2 Kings 2:19-22
There are so many poeple that have been asking me what is greater. I think in these passages will help us to define greater.
Have you ever noticed that you can win at one thing and becuse you win you also loose at something else. You know what I am saying? Let me help you.
Marriage is one of those things. I have been married for 14 years now. There have been some arguments in that time. It is a clash moment in which, I am right about something and my wife thinks she is right about something and those two opinions oppose each other.
You can win something and lose something much more importatn. So you business is blowing up. YOu are making money but your family never see you. Your bank account is full but you got rid of your integrity. THat boy loves you. But you had to loose something for that to happen.
A greater life is defined as winning at what matters most.
What matters most is making a difference.
God does not want to give you a better life, he wants to give you a greater life.
3 things that we can learn from the life of Elisha as to what matters most.
2 Kings 2:19 NKJV
Then the men of the city said to Elisha, “Please notice, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the ground barren.”
This city was Jericho.
Joshua says that if this city is rebuilt, it will be cursed. They were cursed.
The life of greater always starts with Grace.
Grace runs towards the mess.
The first public miracle was done to people who didn’t deserve.
2 Kings 2:20 NKJV
And he said, “Bring me a new bowl, and put salt in it.” So they brought it to him.
2 Kings 2:20–21 NKJV
And he said, “Bring me a new bowl, and put salt in it.” So they brought it to him. Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.’ ”
:20-21
The greater life requires you put actions behind your grace.
Generosity is that action.
I am not talking money. Get money out of your mind right now.
2 Kings 2:21 NKJV
Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.’ ”
2
2 Kings 2:21–22 NKJV
Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.’ ” So the water remains healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.
the greater life still made a difference.
The greater life is a life that outlives itself.
