To Die Is Gain - Philippians 1:20-21

Intro. Deloris Smith was born in 1948 and was taken home to Heaven Feb. 28.

I. Four Things That We Gain in Death.
 A. We Gain a Better Body:
  1. Presently:  Subject to all the tears and sorrows.

   a. Age, sickness, and finally death.

  2. For the Christian: A better body.

   a. No more arthritis, diabetes, migraines, or cancer.

·         Sis. Deloris – diabetes, heart problems…all cured…a brand new set of legs (whole).

 B. We Gain a Better Home.

  1. In Sis. Deloris’ home, didn’t take long to notice her passions…porcelain dolls and whatnots.

  2. But no matter how beautiful your home here is, it can never compare to our mansion in the beautiful city of God.

a.     John 14:1-3, our Lord is preparing for us a mansion in

heaven.
b. “This World is not my home, I’m just a passing thru my home is

laid up somewhere beyond the blue, the angels beckon me to heavens golden shore and I don’t feel at home in this world any more.

·         Sis. Deloris is no longer living at 1144 Boling Rd…

 C. We Gain a Better Inheritance

  1. Our final reward is NOT down here; it’s in heaven.

  2. The only way to gain that reward is through death.

   a. Lord “Well done thou good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of your Lord” Matt 25:21

 D. We Gain a Better Fellowship

  1. As we get older, we notice the family circle starts dissolving.

   a. Mother’s gone, a Dad, a grand mother, an aunt / uncle, a child.

   b. If we live long enough, we’ll live in a strange world…all have died off.

  2. But in heaven, the family circle will never be broken. They

await us.
   a. BUT to get there, one must make a decision to go there.

Deloris did...how about you…?
