Jesus is King
john 19:
All of the recorded kings of Israel and Judah were a succession of stand-ins because of the rebellion of the people.
Authority over creation and human history - John 1:3
phil 2:
So it is that Jesus has claim and authority because He is creator of all, and not only that, but it is by His power that our world continues until that day which the Father has appointed to be the end.
King of the Jews - 1 Samuel 8:7
All of the recorded kings of Israel and Judah were a succession of stand-ins because of the rebellion of the people.
Jesus was rightly King of the Covenant People of God.
I say was because that nation is no more.
The Old Covenant is done away with.
Jesus’s own words to Pilate show He had not come to rule over that earthly nation.
King over His Church - Isaiah 2:1-2
God has established His Kingdom presence in this world in the churches of Jesus Christ
Isa 2:1-
To whom was Peter writing?

That Jesus is King has many
This is why the disciples refused to say, “Kaiser Kurios” (Ceasar is Lord), instead proclaiming at risk of death, “Kristos Kurios!” (Christ is Lord!)
They rightly viewed Jesus as their King and Lord; knowing that their true citizenship was in that Heavenly Kingdom; that city John saw coming down
His Kingdom is not of this world
But it is in the world - John 17:15-16
jn 17:
So we remain IN the world specifically by Jesus’s own will; to minister; to serve our King
Both its means and end are Heavenly - Matthew 24:14
What? we proclaim the gospel of Jesus
Why? as a testimony that will affect all
Charles Spurgeon JUNE 10, 1900
I am not now talking about what will happen to you when you die, or when you rise for the final judgment—I am speaking about what is happening NOW!
The same sun which melts wax hardens clay.
And the same Gospel which melts some persons to repentance hardens others in their sins.
Jesus said to Nicodemus in that unless you are born again you cannot see the Kingdom of God.
It is not an earthly Kingdom, but a Heavenly one with Heavenly goals.
The King’s Purpose
jn 18:
Truth - John 18:37
Objective truth - there is no your truth or my truth.
You have your own perception, your own perspective, and your own imagination, but truth is truth; it is neither yours nor mine.
The 25 Truly Truly’s of Jesus:
Every attempt to discredit Jesus either in His earthly life, or now so many generations after all have and will fail.
In the Bible we see how that Jesus answers everyone in word and/or deed.
So too today, the false accusations all fail when the truth and clarity of scripture is brought into evidence.
Jesus faithfully and accurately bore witness to the veracity of God’s word and Character, even unto death.
Salvation - fulfilled in 2nd Coming
Long ago, the churches of Jesus established a timing and traditions they called Advent.
The word means arrival.
The period beginning 4 Sundays before Christmas Day were called the Advent Season.
The purpose was to count down until the blessed celebration; to reflect on the way the Old Testament saints looked forward to the arrival, the advent of Messiah.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining, til He appeared
and to remind ourselves that our outlook should be one of looking forward to the return, the second advent of Jesus.
This is the biblical and historical view of salvation; we are fully saved when we believe the gospel, but that our salvation is not fulfilled until Jesus returns in glory.
We ought to sing Joy to the World, but also still be singing the King is Coming!
Listen to his voice - John 18:37
Child of God, listen to the voice of Jesus!
It is the natural reaction for those of the truth; those who have been born again.
Listen to His care and compassion for you.
Listen too to his commands as they are for your protection and safekeeping.
The crowd of Jews proved not to be of the truth when they cried out for the release of Barabbas.
The problem for the unbeliever with proclaiming that Jesus is King is that it means that He is the rightful authority.
It means that life and death, Heaven and Hell are on His terms and not ours.
That is why it didn’t matter who or what Barabbas was, only that he was not Jesus.
Neither Pilate, nor the crowd of Jews believed the truth that Jesus was King.
Today, it is our joy to proclaim it and live in light of it.
Jesus is our King!
May God help us to listen attentively to Him and follow.
