Luke 9:59–61 KJV 1900
And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.

-Put YOURSELF inf JESUS’ shoes???
-Put YOURSELF inf JESUS’ shoes???
you know its easy to look at the situation from anthers perspective but can you see it from GOD point of view. you know if it were you asking for help and others kept giving good excuses but excuses none the less.
-Jesus needed them NOW, not tomorrow, not in 1 HOUR, not this afternoon but NOW, He needed someone to respond without excuse because now, right now there are Lazarus’ that need raising, there is !!!!!!

-Everyone who ever did anything
-DISTRACTIONS!!!!!!!!!
DISTRACTIONS!!!!!!!!!
-DO you think the 2nd saw the first get run off?????
-People see you like an opportunity, people have an angle with you, like when you would win the lottery and now you got people coming out of the woodworks!!!
-The point was that proclaiming the kingdom of God was so important that it could not wait. Of course if the man had left and followed Jesus, it would have caused a scandal in the community. But that was less important than proclaiming the kingdom and following the Messiah. A disciple must make a radical commitment.
-These three men called Jesus “Lord” but did not do what He told them to do (6:46; ). When he heard of possible hardships, the first man would not deny himself. The second man was concerned about the wrong funeral: he should have taken up his cross, died to self, and obeyed God’s will. The third man had his eyes in the wrong direction and could not follow Christ. The conditions for discipleship are given in 9:23, and these three men failed to meet them. Their emphasis was “me first.” No wonder the laborers are so few!
-DISTRACTIONS!!!!!!!!!
-We were never meant to fit in!
-Casual Christians, want a little bit of Jesus, Don’t change MY life, just come with me in case I get in trouble, you can’t have my life but ill come visit you once a week!!
This man was CALLED by JESUS!!!!!
The first, Jesus didn't have a HOME here, the ONLY thing Jesus could truly call HIS own was the wood on the CROSS where He laid His head!!!
You are not responsible for the dead, but for the LIVING!!
Holman New Testament Commentary: Luke H. Dedication Means No Looking Back (9:57–62)

Commitment to me takes precedence over all commitments that earthly traditions would place on you. Yes, caring for parents in their final days is important. But you are not the only one who can do that. You are the only one who can answer the call Jesus gives you. When he calls, you must answer here and now and follow immediately wherever he leads even when it means leaving very dear and important tasks and people behind. The kingdom of God is more important even than family obligations. Come! Follow! Now!

Caring for your parents is important BUT.......YOUR the ONLY one who can answer the call JESUS gives YOU!!!!!
When Jesus calls you must answer now, for the PRESENT… Hes not asking for your future that will take care of itself, hes asking for your NOW!!
